What Impact Does Water Consumption Have on Weight Loss or Weight Loss Maintenance Article Review
The In this regard, people are seeking for proper mechanisms of leading and maintaining a healthy state of being. Therefore, because of its far-reaching implication within the human population, this subject becomes such an important issue worth considering. I chose this article because it addresses the subject matter in an open and critical perspective, which allows for even in-depth analysis of the issue. The article reviews results obtained from a research study conducted by the Virginia Tech research group, which was trying to establish the role of water consumption in weight loss and weight loss maintenance in humans. This study was conducted for a duration of 12 weeks using a randomized sample population of “48 adults aged 55 to 75 years” grouped into two, whereby the first group was supposed to drink about “500ml of water before their meals and the other group did not”.
However, the article also contains several points of weaknesses that tend to limit its scope. For instance, the author does not mention whether the participants used in this study were male, female, or both. This is an important aspect because energy usage among the people varies significantly in relation to their sex. Moreover, the article does not provide the reader with more information regarding the nature of the experiment, whether all the participants were put in a controlled environment throughout the 12 weeks period or not. The reason why this is an important consideration is because other external activities might have contributed to the observed changes in weight. As such, I believe that the information presented in this article would be beneficial to other people too.
