YWCA Company and Activism
In 1858, a great organization known as the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) of the city of New York was started from developed ideas from various activists. YWCA is thus a non- profit organization with the aim of empowering women in society and eliminating racism in the US (Boynton, 2000). The organization was created with an objective to protect the young women in the community and the girl child who faced a lot of challenges by then. The organization has grown significantly in the 19th century and the 20th expanding its missions all over the country (Home, 2018). This phase thus seeks to discuss a competitive analysis of the YW company by majoring on the company activities, the positioning of the company, what the company does, its clients, how the competitors affect the products supplied by the company by looking it in the customer perspective.
Some of the competitors include Bright Horizons, SPAOA, AFAS, Hale House Centre and Sesame Fliers. The YWCA is positioned well in the industry and the exhibition market since it impacts on many people in the society including the women. People always yearn to seek the information and stories told by the YWCA activists and members. Many people in the organization would want to share their experiences, and since it is a tremendous time-based organization, some old stories might keep the women motivated and kept moving on in society. With its focus on empowering women, it provides information and courses to women in society. The initiative taken by the company has thus helped a lot of women in New York City who might have been involved in different life challenges.
The YWCA competitors such as the HHC affects its public operation in that they both compete to build their reputation to the public and ensure that they have a more significant influence than each other. The YWCA thus experience a lot of competitive challenges more so in reaching to the public and gaining their trust. They also affect the number of followers the organization has. The competitors too major on exhibitions which are posted on the Museum for people access. PHASE II Activism in New York City Many people have tried changing the society through reforms on social, economic, environmental and political promotions. Activism, positivity in the society is referred to as the action taken by individuals, to campaign and bring changes in the society in different perspectives such as social, environmental and political.
A society that consists of activists is regarded to be a safer and a great place for a change. Individuals take up roles on a daily basis to change the society which they live in with aims to make it a better place for people to live in. Since the 17th century, New York is one of the cities that have brought up many activists mostly social activists who have played a significant role in the promotion of welfare, protection of human rights and religion and women empowerment (Hewitt, 2001). YW until now remains a common figure organization that stood firm to help to change New York to what it is right now. Besides, the rise of unions hasn’t defaced the YW organization because of its infirmity and strong roots it built in the past.
The company still exist to date, and it is so influential unto the rest of the world. Many historical figures were associated with YW and the New York and contributed much to their existence. The most influential figures include Dorothy Heights who was a women’s empowerment and civil rights activist, an educator and administrator. Some of the topics that could be relevant to this group are leadership on how to guide society through hard times and to be the role models of the young girls. In conclusion, activism in New York was very crucial in the empowerment and development of the marginalized women and girls in the society. The young girls benefited and later gave back to society by most of them becoming social activists and continuing the chain of empowering other girls.
It thus kept the YW Company alive and moved up to today. PHASE III Plan for Integration into Museum Exhibit Organizations adopt different promotion strategies for their brand and reputation in the market. One it can use the concept of photographs. The photographs can contain portraits of activists with their messages and mottos on them to show the public what each activist was for and stood firmly within the society by then. Also, the YWCA can make video documented presentations which can be combined into PowerPoint presentations. The displays in the presentations could be chronologically arranged o arranged for each activist by aligning pictures of them doing their activists works (Agarwal, 2017). The photos can be documented with writings on each of the pages and made to look like a video form.
One of the possible topics is women empowerment. The society today is comprised of many women who face a lot of challenges and need emotional, financial and social support to go past their problems. Another topic could be educating the girl child. Young girls need to be supported by allowing them to pursue education and build their future. Activists might not be happy to see the girls in the society not going to school because they lack the resources to complete their educational goals. With that, the YWCA could have reached its goal of empowering women digitally. Presentation References Agarwal, M. How to create the perfect visual content for social media.
