The conclusion of the report will indicate how this technology can transform the lives of the people in the mentioned regions and how this technology carries out the same processes for such positive change. Also, other aspects of big data analytics such as the challenges of its implementation and some of the possible adverse results of its use will also be explained. Big Data According to Nada Elgendy and Ahmed Elragal (2014), big data refers to an enormous amount of information as well as the complexity of the same information to the point where normal techniques of analysis and software do not have the capability of deciphering it. The data is explained as unpredictable in its change accompanied with a rapid growth of size which is almost difficult to predict or understand (Elgendy & Elragal, 2014).

However, from their article called “Big Data Analytics: A Literature Review Paper,” the authors assert that researchers and IT experts need to understand this form of data since it will advance the technology in big data analysis (Elgendy & Elragal, 2014). From the beginning, these researchers state that numerous organizations have been able to effectively apply big data in their business ventures. However, the authors indicate that these corporations hardly know how to effectively use big data to their advantage. Günther et al. (2017) state that for the companies to fully take advantage of the entire technology of massive data mining, they should constantly update their mission and vision statements. The reason is that the dataset grows rapidly and the organization has to meet the needs of the customers.

Large organizations and corporations rely on this technology of big data to try and predict the trends and needs of the consumer market. By running an analysis of the metadata which is collected over a certain period, some trends and patterns can be noted (Tran & Scholtes, 2015). These results help such companies to tailor the manner in which they produce and market their goods so that they are able to target a larger customer base. As the information technology has advanced, so has the value of data. Previously, such information was just unnecessary records that clogged the office space (Tran & Scholtes, 2015). Moreover, there is numerous software that can have access to such details which increases the amount of information collected by big data analytics.

However, despite the amount of data that human beings have managed to store through the use of numerous devices, software, and applications, the technology of big data analytics is still at its inception stage. This situation means that the technology which is available hardly performs to the extent to which it can fully utilize the data that is stored. Thus, the current big data analysis only applies a small percentage of its intended capability. Even with these shortcomings, numerous governmental agencies, public systems, and even search engines are able to analyze the data and predict the action of an individual, find his or her location, and even determine the intent of the person. According to Stuti Saxena (2017), minimal research has been done on the technological implications of big data analytics in these countries.

However, the researcher ascertains that once more studies and technological advancements are made in the region, the nations will develop their infrastructure and further increase the economic status of the people. Saxena (2017) indicates further that the region is located at a strategic position with numerous ports that can allow large vessels to the dork, hence, trade and foreign investment can thrive greatly in the area. Big Data in the Government and Public Sector in the GCC A white paper written by Megha Kumar (2015) and published by IDC indicates that the GCC region is a rich area for technological, economic, and social growth. In the article, Kumar states that the GCC nations are ripe for such development. However, there are certain measures that have to be put in place before the GCC countries can attain such a position.

The figure below indicates some of the challenges these nations face and how they will benefit the entire region once they are resolved. Figure 1: The process chain for big data analytics in the GCC based on two software (Kumar, 2017). When considering the listed software, both can work independent of each other but they are more effective when functioning in tandem. Hadoop is a program capable of processing a vast source of information at the same time (Kumar, 2017). Thus, they can improve their social lives, have higher economic status, and also their cultural aspects will be preserved and appreciated (Allagu & Ayish, 2017). Such a scenario seems like a utopia but the researchers are confident that the technology will work. However, they indicate that there are dark and evil sides of the same technology.

Big data analytics, as stated by the writers of the article, can be a method through which international organizations are able to take over the entire region (Allagu & Ayish, 2017). “The adoption of social media in government agencies: Gulf Cooperation Council case study” is a paper written by Ali H. These activities include oil drilling and refining, production in industries, and the destruction of the aesthetic beauty of the natural environment through mining. Such actions have made various areas on earth to become difficult places to live. However, Ilhem Allagui and Mohammad Ayish (2017) declare in their report that big data analytics will improve the entire process of drilling for oil, the refinery process, as well as its efficient use. From the predicted statistics, the article indicates that the new technology will reduce the harmful effects of human activities on the environment by as much as 50% (Allagui & Ayish, 2017).

Although this situation does not actually resolve the entire issue of pollution, it is a positive start and with the use of the same technology, more efficient ways of preserving the natural environment will be discovered. However, several countries are showing initiative, especially through social media and more data is being collected. By the time the technology becomes more effective, the GCC region will be ready to apply it and enjoy the benefits. Another challenge is data security. Considering the amount of information collected, one notices that the data contains both personal and professional information (Aditham & Ranganathan, 2017). Malicious hackers can resort to obtain such information just to use it for their selfish gain.  Journal of Technology Research, 5, 1. Allagui, I. , & Ayish, M.
