In particular, the authors seek to find out how gender inequalities with regards to having insufficient time influence overweight issues and obesity in adults. These assertions are held based on the idea that gender differences with regards to inequalities in time distribution at home and at work have adverse repercussions on the health of women, as it reduces the time available for activities that promote healthy lifestyles. The authors support their points through parenthetical citations that highlight supporting evidence that they utilized from external sources such as other research papers. The hypothesis that the authors hold is that “gender inequalities regarding insufficiency of time play a role in the development of overweight and obesity in adults” (Pinto et al. The authors interviewed participants where the findings highlighted that more women reported that they had insufficient time for leisure and personal care in comparison to their male counterparts.

Additionally, the lack of the literature review makes it difficult for readers to clearly see the author’s ability to critically evaluate relevant research in their respective fields. The research is current and relevant to today’s existing health issues since research asserts that obesity is the next epidemic that faces today’s doctors seeing that approximately $150 billion dollars in healthcare resources are allocated to obesity-related issues (Hurt et al. Additionally, research holds that the obesity epidemic and other chronic illnesses related to that are caused by modern lifestyles (Egger & Dixon, 2014). Similarly, research by Hruby et al. attributes the increase in obesity and overweight issues to industrialization, economic growth, mechanized transport, the increase in processed food intake, a transition to diets that have a high calorie and urbanization (Hurby et.

Additionally, the composition of the sample was appropriate as it sought to get responses from different types of employees from the different segments of civil service, such that the true purpose of the study could be implemented. However, one can say that there was bias in selecting the sample population, because only members of the civil service were interviewed, while the researchers failed to include the workers in the private sector. Therefore the case study could be improved on if the sample population included workers from both the private sector as well as the civil service so that a clear comparison could be made. By doing this, they would be able to highlight differences in time allocations of both men and women in the private versus civil service.

Bearing this in mind, further research can be conducted on the subject so that the results not only address obesity and overweight issues in the civil service but also in the private sector. Additionally, the data analysis was carried out professionally. In a different light, the paper discusses the implications of the findings and it recommends that relevant debates on the use of time and gender equity in these modern times be done. From this, one can conclude that the authors did a good job on their research but they could tweak one or two issues so that the paper can be made better. References Egger, G. , & Dixon, J.
