This paper will, therefore, discuss major events of 2012 that happened in the United Kingdom and how they relate to culture. Sport The fourteenth Summer Paralympic games of 2012 were held in London. This is a major sports event for people with disabilities. On 29th August 2012, disabled people from different countries in the world started trickling in and hosted more than four-thousand athletes. This number was the highest number to be recorded in a Paralympic Olympics. It also showed that sports are an important factor of the British culture as the IPC president at the time declared it the greatest Paralympic ever. Movies On the 23rd of October 2012, a James Bond film called Skyfall premiered in the Royal Albert Hall in London. The James Bond Film Series is one of the most famous spy films ever to be produced in the United Kingdom.

It revolves around a character known as James Bond who is an M16 agent. This series is one of the long-running series and has a gross of approximately seven billion US dollars. Barry was known for writing historical fiction in Britain. He published a total of seventeen novels in his lifetime but contributed to other numerous publications. His most famous book, Sacred Hunger, which was published in 1992 won the Booker Prize of 1992. Sacred Hunger was set in the Eighteenth Century and revolves around a slave ship that was involved in the Atlantic slave trade. The main characters of the story are Mathew Paris and Erasmus Kemp who are cousins. The artists who were leading in nominations were Ed Sheeran, Adele and Jessie J.

The event brings together pop artists from different parts of the United Kingdom. The music scene in the United Kingdom has continued to change over time. The United Kingdom has continued to lead in the music since it is the major producer of music from western music, cultural and church music (Wallenfeldt, 2014). Music and songs play a major role in the British culture. One of the fashion trends that depicts the British culture is the artificial dye. In 1883 William Henry, British Chemist, at the time eighteen years started doing experiments with the aim of developing a cure for Malaria from quinine. However, he accidentally discovered a synthetic purple dye referred to mauveine. This was the beginning of colored garments fashion that is dictated by color.

Other natural dyes discovered afterward were yellow from cow urine, purple from murex snail and sepia brown from an octopus. The normal cigarettes have been around for decades and are part of the British Culture. Vaping is just an advanced way of smoking; the only difference is that the actual fire is not used. Politics On the third day of 2012, the local elections of Wales, England, and Scotland were held. On that day, thirty-two Scottish local authorities held their local election while three mayoral elections were held.
