The demonstration of the Clostridium difficile in the stool enables the diagnosis of the infection in a patient. Since the infection affects patients who have been treated by use of antibiotics, the treatment method is the regulation of the antibiotics or a change in those currently prescribed (Walters & Zuckerbraun, 2014). Also, the infection can easily be spread to other patients in the hospital as well as other people in the environment. Statistics from the United States and Europe have indicated that the impact of the infection has increased in the past few years. In a study conducted in Canada it was evidenced that the C. However, there are reasons to believe that the amount might have been higher considering the fact that there are indirect costs associated with the management of the infection.

It has been estimated that the epidemiology of the infection has taken a toll for a different direction in the recent past. There have been cases of the infection in areas where people were not easily diagnosed with the disease (Polgreen, Yang, Bohnett & Cavanaugh, 2010). Among the regions were communities that had been considered as low risk regions which included groups of women, who had healthy peripartum, children and people who were naïve about antibiotics. According to data collected in the United States and Europe the infection rates were 20 to27% of community associated CDI cases (Garcia, Vidal, Gotuzzo & Dupont, 2007). Therefore, risk factors better equip doctors in handling the issue since they have an understanding of the cause Time trend analysis enables the well-defined data points that are collected in different intervals of time.

The data is collected by statistical methods which are used in the analyzation of time trend and also enable the extraction of meaningful information about the data that has been collected (Riddle & Dubberke, 2009). However, the most important use of the time trend analysis is the predomination of the past as well as the prediction of the future. In the analysis of Clostridium difficile, time trend analysis is important because it enables the variation of the infection and its impacts in a certain geographical setting. In the incidence of the infection the data is collected from different communities and hospitals and used to identify the consequences of the infection on patients and how it can be managed (Keske & Letizia, 2010). The increased numbers of mortality rates of the infections have been attributed to beginning of the 21st century.

Therefore, through the time trend analysis, people and communities that were estimated to have an increased rate of clostridium difficile can be managed for future precautions of the infections. In regions across the United States and Europe the infection rates have increased and as such, there are considerations to offer more treatment options for the infection in the future by observing the occurrences of the infection from the past. This time trend analysis of the infection will enable its treatment which is one of the analysis’s importances. The risk of being infected with the Clostridium difficile s mostly associated with hospitals, therefore, through a time trend analysis on the risk factors of the infection can enable the prevention of the infection from the hospital base.
