In nursing and midwifery, we do not just need to communicate, but communicate effectively. England 345). The nursing environment daily encounters people from various backgrounds who need the services. Therefore, it should be the goal of every nurse and midwife to obtain the necessary skills needed to have effective communication. When conversing with the patients right from the start- greetings, starting and carrying on with the conversation, engaging in a leading talk to understand the problem and giving the client hope of getting well is desirable. A good eye contact is never to be confused with a glare, where one fixes their eyes on someone. Staring at someone while they speak is offensive in all the culture and nations of the world. The gentle look at someone shows that you are concerned with the other party and you are interested in the topic being discussed.

Use of Gestures Body gestures like motion of hands is so monumental in echoing what our deepest minds believe in. whenever we are lying or saying one thing but meaning the other, the gestures will definitely betray us. We have little control over how we express ourselves with gestures. Using a lot of space while communicating using the hands means that you have more power over the other person and with confidence too.
