This is because, without effective communication, there would be confusion between care professionals and service users. When working in health and social care organisations with a range of vulnerable people, having good communication skills is essential as providing the necessary assistance, support, and effective interventions requires effective communication and understanding between the service providers and the users. Most importantly, service workers must interact with service users, staffs and visitors. Therefore, service workers must implement various types of communication techniques, through knowledge experience and skills Moss (2007) postulated that the ability to communicate effectively with superiors, colleagues, and staff is essential irrespective of the industry that one works in. This being a digital age, workers must know how to effectively convey and receive messages in person as well as via phone, email, and social media.

In relation to the case at hand, the reinforcement is negative. The patient was not impressed by the behaviours of the care providers which created a bad impression about the hospital in his mind. Egan’s S. O. L. Correct theories were not implemented. 2 Use communication skills in a health and social care context Communication is a two-way process between the sender and the receiver. It allows people to interact and form social relationships. There are several communication skills which individuals must possess so that they provide better services to their customers. These skills are listening, thinking, speaking and no-verbal skills. Every day, for example, I communicate by greeting service users and colleagues with a pleasant smile asking them how they are doing in order to show my value for them.

While engaging in conversation I show that I am a good listener by maintaining good eye contact, encouraging them by smiling, nodding and showing interest. Not all the service users speak English but I always approach my conversations with effective communication skills, verbally and non-verbally. In relation to the case study the doctors did not apply effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills while dealing with Joanna. Joanna first language is not English, which to my understanding, was clearly obvious to the doctors and nurses yet they still chose to ignore the patient’s needs. Thus, inappropriate communication entails adding pain as it is characterised by the use of negative behaviour and expression as can be seen in the case. Improper relational correspondence identify with hindrances that are found to occur in the social care setting which comprise of manhandle through neglect in mind, wrong dialect, rupture of trust/classification, not keeping administration’s or clients information secure and confidential.

For example, from the case study Joanna was treated inappropriately and unprofessionally. The privacy was breeched. Joanna was left feeling frustrated, neglected and very unsatisfied. 4 Analyse the use of strategies to support users of health and social care services with specific communication needs Needless to mention that a health and social care units have several users who include but not limited to patients, disabled people, kids, parents, deaf service users among others. This means therefore, that there is no universal way of dealing with them all. For this reason, the care providers must devise strategies of dealing with their different services users as they have different needs. In this regard, it is imperative that the care organizations use suitable strategies that are aimed at increasing the communication processes (Moss, 2007).

The disabled patients have special communication needs and a care company is obliged to follow them. 1 Explain how the communication process influenced by values and cultural factor. Cross-cultural communication in health care is interaction of people from different cultures and background. Interacting via Language differences, high-context vs. low-context cultures, nonverbal differences, and power distance are major factors that can affect cross-cultural communication. An effective communication fundamental for the maintenance of health and social care. The communication skills that need to be used with children differs from those that should be used with adults. So age has a great influence of communication. So does the sex of users. Female patients need to be provided with special care as they are more sensitive.

Additionally, female attendants should be assigned to female patients while the male attendants are assigned to the male patients and service users (Jimenez & Guillem, 2009). In addition to legislations, there are charters and codes of conduct which manage the wellbeing and social care all of which ensures that good practice is exercised and care is delivered in the best way. The legislation Under the Equality Act 2010 defines that everyone is to be protected against unlawful treatment, such as race, age, disability, gender, religion as it in most cases sets out ways in which it predominantly is fundamentally unlawful to surely treat someone in health and social care. The data protection Act 1998 controls how a person’s data is utilized by association, organizations or the administration.

Everybody in charge of utilizing individual information needs to take after strict standards called 'information security standards. ’ According to Act, sharing of confidential data relating to the service users is not allowed and ensures that information security rights of individuals are taken care of (Graham & Steven, 2008). All persons are obliged to follow the rules, laws, and policies and be mindful of the service users. An organization need to have a separate department that handles complaints. Through a good complaint system, people, both the users and the provider can communicate effectively. Organisation policies on training ensures that employees have up-to-date training and have all the skills to handle, interact, and support the patients and other service users. When the staffs are properly trained, they can take communicate effectively with the service users either through verbal or non-verbal communication.

Organisations are required to implement different way of communication methods that must be used when assisting patients with communication problems. to help make communication in health care more effective and efficient. Therefore an interpreter who can translate patient’s problems and concerns is required from healthcare settings in order to improve communication in health care settings. For example, care workers must be able to build a relationship with care users, implement policies, follow the appreciate procedures, and code of practice to improve the communication process successfully in the organisations (Johnson & Wolinsky, 1993). Everyone is different, we all have different cultural needs, and religious believes, spiritual beliefs and more that requires professionals to assist in the appropriate and correct way when dealing with patients.

There are also monitoring software. These software are designed for cardiac patients. The cardiac activities of the heart and the heart rates are monitored by a mobile based monitoring system. In addition, there is a Spot Vital Signs Device that has IR connectivity with medical records and is very helpful in measuring blood pressure, purse rate, temperature and SpO2. I have used most of these monitoring software and are very effective. This include but not limited to: a) With ICT, there are better service alternatives, care, independence, and controlled service. b) Patients are attended to and treated with speed and efficiency. c) ICT enhances quality of services and hence improved life and health. d) There is better quality sustenance for the services users in critical conditions e) The cases of accidents at service care homes are minimised f) With ICT, proactive measures can be taken so that the individuals who are per-disposed to various health risks can get attention before it worsens.

3 Analyse how legal considerations in the use of ICT impact on health and social care. These are legal issues rising from the use of ICT. In conclusion, effective communication in health and social care organizations is indispensable. This is because, both the service users and the service providers must interact through which interaction, social relationships develops. Effective communication means that the sender of the message communicates in a way that the receiver decodes correctly as intended.
