Community Collaboration Proposal for a Family Literacy Center

In order to accomplish this, I will use different communication and collaborative skills. Intercultural communication This is the primary skill I will use to interact with the families. This is because these families will, most likely, be from cultures different from my own because my community is composed of many cultures. In order for my communication to be effective, I will listen as much as I speak as well as observe and interpret feedback. As human beings, some of us have preconceived notions about people who have a different culture to ours.

I will seek to know if I have any biases towards the different cultures I will be interacting with. To promote and maintain goodwill, I will strive to always be authentic in my communication with both the families and multi-agencies. In most cases, people can tell when a person is not genuine or true to his word. I will keep a free and clear line of communication so that the families can reach me as much as possible. I will be honest with the prospective donors on realistic expectations of the project. One of the most effective tools for a Family Literacy collaborative process is the meetings. This means that more than ever before, Literacy programs are needed to bridge this gap.
