Corruption is increasingly becoming a major factor in the government security agencies which has led to slow investigations and poor outcomes. The other factor has been contributing to poor security is the little range of services offered by these agencies which are limited. These factors among many others have led to a lack of trust from the public, thus leading to the emergence of private security and investigation firms and amateur detectives. The public is fast moving into adoption and preference of private investigators and amateur detective whose range of work range from financial, infidelity, murder among others and come up with exemplary answers. According to the public perception, the private security firms are more reliable than the public sector and therefore the fast growth of the firms.

Private investigation services have developed since then and are changing in their service lines in connection with changing time. From cattle/horse theft to infidelity and insider trading. Job profile Private investigators as either an individual or a small firm that may comprise of a few people. This investigator’s clients are private people who live in the community. Their work includes but not limited to, infidelity, fraud/theft, finding individuals who are believed to be missing (Nemeth, 2017). This category of work covers a wider range of duties not mentioned here but are considered legal and vital in the legal framework (Cavelty & Balzacq, 2016). Becoming a private investigator The field of private investigators is a very wide faculty. This demands special knowledge and qualifications for one to perform their duties exemplarily well.

These skills and training qualification differs depending on the specialization of the private investigator or the firm he/she is working for. For example, according to Gottschalk (2018), the qualification for fraud case investigations requires certification, authorization and should be registered as a fraud analyst. Job profile Amateurs did perform their duties as a profession and therefore did not have a set class of work or duties. However, from their history and definition, their roles can be defined as sensing, tracking and apprehending criminals in the community and consequent punishment to them. The crimes and criminals that attracted the attention of amateurs included theft and murder. These roles grew with time to include rape, murder, theft, and infidelity (Haworth, 2012). Although these are the major roles that are universally known, different amateurs may go beyond the above named and perform wider duties for the benefits of society.

Secondly, both are aimed at solving problems that require distinctly high intellectual minds in the detection and investigation of the problem (Cavelty & Balzacq, 2016). This is because the problems are attracting their attention is most of the time frequented and reporting to the authorities have not given results. Thirdly, both the private investigator and amateur detectives operate under certain parameters. Although amateur detectives have no legal framework stated in the constitution of the country they operate in, they form their own principles which they follow and work under (Franks 2016). Same to the private investigators who follow the set principles of operation in-line with the state laws. Lastly, private investigators education level, training, and experience in the field of investigation is very important and determines whether they will be given employment I investigative firms while for the amateur detective, no set standards of educations are set as the people who perform the work are independent and self-sufficient (Cavelty & Balzacq, 2016).

Therefore, amateurs require neither training nor education to perform their duty as a necessity. In addition, private investigators have a formal structure with an address and office of operation as required by their licensing Act. The amateur detective does not have a designated place of operation nor an official address. Benefits of the private security system Both the amateur and private investigators provide a quicker solution to the incidence, crime and recovery of stolen items than it would be in the government security agency.
