3 million people, for this reason early diagnosis followed by early treatment is a great concern in efficient management of diabetes. A number of research works has been conducted in order to come up with specific diagnostic tool in clinical diagnoses and subsequent treatment of the different types of diabetes. In this paper,KRONUS market Development associates Zinc Transporter 8 Autoantibody (ZnT8Ab) Elisa test assay as new diabetes type 1 diagnostic tool in children and adolescents is discussed, The area of concerned being; the clinical research findings relevant to current diabetes and nursing practices (Ding, Xu, Liu, Bi & Xu, 2018). Discussion The diabetes type 1 patients (TID) produce antibodies against the antigens from the islet cells of the pancrease, thus in this assay these antibodies are targeted to zinc transporter and later subjected to spectroscopic analysis in which the specimen blood sample absorbance is measured.

The assay is therefore tailored towards diagnose of type 1 diabetes with the targeted patient population being the children (Cowie et al. The relevance of this is depicted by the fact that the clinician is able to differentiate the type of diabetes not just rely on empirical diagnosis; as per empirical diagnosis the clinician may tend to presume that type 1diabetes is a reserve of the pediatric or adolescent patients and type 2 diabetes for the adults, yet type 1diabetes may also present in the adults. The detection of type1diabetes is vital in prevention of further deterioration of the islet cells of the pancreas which produce insulin; this test therefore serves to obtain a timelyT1D diagnosis, which necessitates urgent treatment targeting T1D thus avoiding further damage to pancreatic islet cells.

The American based Food and Drug Association noted with much concern that, a negative result with this diagnostic tool does not necessarily rule out the possibility of a positive type1diabetes result (Andersen et al. The test therefore is FDA recommended to be carried out in combination with other tests and other patient clinical manifestations are relevant when a clinician is making a definitive diagnosis ("First Type 1 Diabetes Diagnosis Test Approved by FDA", 2018). Conclusion In reference to the above discussion, majority of type 1diabetes patients produce ZnT8Ab in their immune system which is unique to T1D and not in type 2diabetes.
