I have grown up in a School where money, size, therefore popularity go hand in hand with one another. It was essential for a girl to have the new UGG Boots from Australia, which were overpriced and not even good looking, in my opinion. It was not necessarily the boot that was popular, but rather what comes with it, that one could afford to buy that boot showed one could be part of the ‘cool-gang. ’ This is where it all starts; one tries to fit into the image to be cool and accepted. It starts with a shoe and ends with skipping meals every day, to finally reach size XS or smaller. Even though females are at the center of discussions, there is a need to understand that they are humans just like anyone else.

They deserve better treatments to improve the quality of their lives. In the case of specific challenges, the focus should be on bringing everyone on board and making it possible to address the main issues associated with their lives. Failure to address such concerns makes life unbearable, and such women will not be in a position to understand what works best for them in various instances. The outcome of such sufferings makes women bitter spiritually as well as emotional. Disability is usually involved shortcomings that are inbuilt rather than being exterior making it irresponsive to cure or rehabilitation (Goffman 27). Compared to conditions that manifest themselves like race and gender, disability is seen as harmful to the society hence there has been a recognition about its traumatic effect prolonged pain, body deterioration or even to death.

The pervasiveness of illness and disability, the dissemination of narratives about physical condition does not match their occurrence in the whole population. Few conditions are usually accompanied by many narratives. Mostly the caregivers or even parents of the victims are usually the ones in the front line writing narratives about the disorder or disability. People can reach other affected people from different spaces to encourage each other knowing that they are not alone. These people use different social media platforms to narrate testimonies of their experiences and keeping people updated on how there are progressing with their conditions. This creates space for different online blogs and groups that help in supporting and motivation these people. Illness and disability can lead to harmful isolation even if there is stigma related to it or not.

These people need full support from the people around. Those with the conditions should be left to narrate their stories instead of letting the physicians do the narratives. As practitioners of narrative medicine, clinicians should reconstruct these narratives to help them in their studies in their medical institutions. Methodology The approach taken to find the right insights regarding research is critical in most instances. Having attended that school, I was lucky to be strong enough to resent these competitions. Today I would say that my body image was confusing and not healthy for 14 years old. Q2. How do you feel when you are in a different setting, for example on holiday with your parents, do you still feel the need of starving yourself? Answer: Not really, but the case is different when alone.

Q3. Do you feel as if you have a choice? Anorexia or not, bulimic or not? Answer: bulimic is the way to go. It is necessary to remain skinny and attractive. Even though this conditions can be treatable, how it affects an individual and its final result can lead to death if not grappled with early. This condition usually entwines with problems such as depression or drug abuse. Since it is classified as a disease, an eating disorder can be treated by the use of appropriate means. According to Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), girls aged between 12 and 25 forms 95% of individuals with an eating disorder and Neumark-Sztainer stated that half of the teenage girl’s population tend to apply weight control measures that are not healthy like regular skipping of meals (Rohde, Eric and Nathan 17).

There are three habitual types of an eating disorder; bulimia nervosa is a type of eating disorder where an individual overfeed then followed by the tendency of vomiting or excessive use of laxatives. Instances of teasing, negative talks, and bullying based on body size and physical appearance, in teenagers, can contribute to eating since they will be ashamed of their selves. Eating disorders can be diagnosed and treated during its early stages based on the signs and symptoms and eating behavior of the affected persons. Series of tests can be performed to help point out a diagnosis. These tests include; physical exam and psychological evaluation. Other tests may be done to check other conditions related to the disorder. Even so, writing about illness and disability remained unpopular until the mid-20th centuries.

These narratives have assisted in the advancing of different movements, for example, the AIDS narrative that was incited by the gay movement or the disability narrative motivated by the disabled right movement. People write and publish different narratives based on the actual events that they have experienced like relatives being diagnosed with chronic diseases or even disability. Because of its significance, academics and scholars started recognizing life writings in the 90s. The focus of the research is on the health of women in most instances and how best the system can work to improve their state in most instances. It has been the main cause of insecurities in teenagers since fitting in is viewed as being “perfect” hence every teenager with insecurity issues tend to go extra mile just to fit in within their surrounding environment.

Teenagers want to be like the celebrities who post pictures of their perfect bodies not realizing that those images have been perfected by the use of technology. According to social issues research centers, increasing advertisements on social media can create beauty issues since the pictures of models who do adverts are edited to look perfect yet in reality only a few women can match the edited picture. Media can give the institution that girls are the controllers of the universe and are supposed to be happy at all times, their interpretation of what they see on learn from social media may create negativity on the reflection of themselves in the mirror especially those with low self-esteem. Comments from boys can also be a major challenge affecting teenage girls.

In any given instance, being mindful about the kind of food a person consumes makes it possible to live a quality life. In specific instance, young girls are not mindful of what they consume. The approach impacts their lives negatively. Such individuals are not in a position to have a meaningful lifestyle. The findings from the interviews above bring a clear understanding of the case.
