Therefore, these concepts triggered my ancestry to be relocated from their motherland, Africa, to their place of oppression and an ultimate redemption after severe conflicts with their tyrant masters who are still in play shaping and determining our lives. Some factors such as social practices, government policies, and concepts have played a major role as the instigator in shaping my life in terms of opportunities and, also indefinitely ascertaining accessing of better social amenities or improved living standards just like other Americans. It is in this regard that I am accessing my culture, race and ethnicity concepts and how it has been influenced by the systematic institutions in structuring my life and life chances. My status will efficiently offset the bloodline of my ancestry. The American system since time and immemorial has accustomed itself with the norm of prejudicing black-Americans as being inferior, unlike the other races (Jakubowicz et al, 2017). My biological parents were a victim of all this. The great-grandparents were initially cradlers of Harlem before they moved with my grandparents to Bedstuy. Their relocation was due to the States plan of decongesting Harlem following the construction of the IND Fulton Street line in the year 1936. With the hope of finding better housing units, my grandparents moved to Bedstuy as it was the government’s promise which coerced the black-Americans to leave their permanent homes in Harlem. ) to exploit minority groups” (Bonilla-Silva, 1994). My grandfather lost his stall of grocery from where he earned a living from the looting that ensued race riots in 1964.

This forced him to succumb to poverty and to poor living standards. After the incident of his stall being looted, he met my grandmother and then my family was conceived. The proceeding years were attenuated with police brutality as police were instruments of oppression and racially biased law enforcement. The project employed local residents to work with contractors enabling my grandmother and her kids to find small jobs that could elevate their status. Additionally, they were able to attend schools as schools were built up in regard to these projects. The joy and freedom was short-lived as riots and looting resumed with the Blacks respiring against the construction of recreational amenities. In 1990, crime in the neighborhood had declined though it was not non-existent.

Generally, the whole community was experiencing gentrification. His schooling is based on achieving H. S diploma due to the norm of his birthplace which demands a man to work and provide as soon as possible. All in all, I attend to my studies in Carnesis from K-12 grade. I am active in school and participate in cheerleading, step team, flag football, basketball, double Dutch class, muscle classes and more in order to improve my estate and to elevate my ethnical background of staunch destitute. Ultimately, all the occurrences that have been mitigated by governments’ policies to the constant public disobediences have been the factors affecting my life and the life chances of my family.
