For instance, in the case of manufacturing industries, training and legislation of staff on ways of managing fire, education on risk factors and prevention of fire should be a priority in ensuring reduction of fire outbreak cases. In order to deal with and boost preparedness to fire outbreaks people should have a list of safety management protocols, in homes, institutions, businesses/market places as well as in manufacturing company setups. In factories and other business set ups, the role of the management is to ensure that employees adhere to safety requirements and ensure provision of sufficient fire management equipment. Business premises should be constructed in such a way that they meet the legal fire and safety management standards. Fire exits and fire assemblies are crucial in any case of fire outbreak.
Majority of the buildings we visited were made of concrete walls showing some signs of physical fatigue and had cracks along the walls. This could be due to failure of the constructors to observe the standard construction guidelines or use of less stable building materials. In case of fire, such buildings would easily collapse thus paralyzing rescue operations and may also lead to lose of life. We also witnessed oxidation of roofing materials used in those buildings. On going through the electrical installation, we found out that the main power supply source was in an unstable condition and failure to replace it would increase the chances of electrical related fire. Such constructors should follow the most appropriate building procedures and insist on using standardized construction materials that are very durable and heat stable.
