BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT’S LIFE Franklin Delano Roosevelt is one of the most successful American presidents taken as the icon of the modern presidency in the United States. He was born in 1882, in Hyde Park, New York. Being the only child, his mother devoted herself so much to bring him up to be a responsible person. While attending Groton school, he admired his cousin Theodore Roosevelt, who served as a mentor to his political life despite being a Republican star. Elaborately, this essay consists of the remarkable contribution to the United States of America development by Franklin Delano Roosevelt on the political aspect.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE UNITED STATES HISTORY He began his politics in 1910 when he vied for New York State as a Democrat. Despite being a Republican stronghold, he won the seat. While as a senator, he gained national figure reason being the critics he accorded to some of the political elements in New York from his party who seemed unaccountable. Upon supporting Woodrow Wilson as the presidential candidate, he was appointed as the Assistant Secretary of the Navy and held the post for seven years. He proved to be energetic and courageous by taking the Superpower through the World War II. He led his country during the Great Depression where the nation successfully recovered economic wise. His excellent oratory skills and charismatic leadership governing the nation and its citizens brought light to most of the Americans (Leuchtenburg 25).

He bravely preached to his followers that the only fear they could fear was the fear itself. Thus the leadership styles he applied brought undeniable recognition around the globe. In 1941, he called off the isolationist sentiment and enlightened the Americans why it was vital to support their allies. He called upon the American factories to accept offers from France, Britain, and Russia through the congressionally approved lend-lease program (Harper 378). This gave him the opportunity to effectively fight Germany, Italy, and Japan. America recorded positive popularity and became an affirmed veto power. According to Harper, after spearheading the war against Nazi Germany led by Hitler, his post-war calling for peace gave birth to the United Nations, an organization responsible for bringing control among nations and instilling tranquility all over the world.

Despite being stopped since it was against the United States Constitution, most of its provisions became incorporated in the labor laws showing how significant it was. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was mostly criticized for taking the constitution on his hands when he chose to run for the presidency not only the third but also the fourth terms. However, there are those who believed that no one could take them through the World War II except him since he had the desired leadership in politics and military experience and skills.
