On common disadvantage that may occur with usability is occurrence of errors during process administration thus resulting to negative patient outcome. Positive factors attributed to the usability of health information system include enhancing privacy of patient data, and ensuring patient safety and quality service delivery. Interoperability Interoperability refers to the capacity of health information system to function with others reciprocally. The main advantage regarding interoperability is that it ensures safer transition and continuity of care. For instance, a patient sent to the radiologist would easily have their imaging result sent to them through the physician who requested for it (‘HIMSS Dictionary’). For instance, a client laboratory reports could be sent to a physician, or a radiologist would easily send their results to the physician to assist in decision making.

Patient care has greatly improved with the adoption of HIS The electronic systems have enhanced information workflow, nurse’s informatics find it easy to document patient care and keep record of patient information, thus resulting to efficient and quality patient outcome (Aligood, 2014). Documentation is a vital part of nursing care as it enables the health practitioners to communicate the condition of the patient allowing them to coordinate proper patient care as per their health needs. With the use of electronic system there is improved accuracy and enhanced flow of patient data. Also, the reduced paperwork minimizes instances of loss of data since in most cases computers are established with backups that allows for restoration of information. HIS have been recorded to improve patient care by improving administration procedures, monitoring coordination and allowing easy access of information for coordinated patient care.

B. Discuss how a System Will Benefit the Organization by Addressing the Following: 1. Provide two ways that Quality Improvement (QI) data collected from a System can lead to Measurable Improvement in Health Care Services and the Health Status of Targeted Patient Groups. Quality improvement allows for positive healthcare outcomes since it results to efficient and effective service delivery. Data Backup and Recovery It is essential that the HIS is established with data backup and recovery systems which would enable restoration of information in case of data loss (Brodnik et al, 2012). The HIS should ensure encryption of patient insurance details to avoid issues of data breech. In case of data breech al the relevant parties should be informed so that they stay aware exercise the necessary precaution against dangers involved.

Explain how a System Will Protect Patient Privacy The HIS functions to improve patient outcome by creating a more advanced technology in health information system. Regulations of privacy gives limit to the extent by which a patient information can be disclosed. Data storage in the computers would also use little space, reducing dirt, damages and waste at the end of the day. Increasing Productivity The incorporation of electronic system increase productivity in several ways. First there is reduced time in data entry, information can easily be entered into the computer as assessment of the patient continues (Alshamari, 2016). Also, the sharing of patient data across the healthcare departments allows the creation of an information workflow resulting to easy coordination amongst healthcare practitioners hence increased productivity as many patients can be seen.

Human and Capital Resource The use of electronic system creates a positive return on capital as an organization would not have to hire several people (Solove, 2013). Each Team Members Expertise and how it Contributes to the Success of the Project The financial stakeholders would ensure proper budgeting as the medical leaders and the clinicians ensure the project meets the standard efficiency expected by the hospital (Harper & Maloney, 2016). The patients on the other hand would be able to determine the possible impact of the project on them as the final consumers. D. Discuss Your Plan for Evaluating the Success of the Implementation of a System by Incorporating Two Professional Organization Standards. Professional organizational standards are established to guide healthcare practitioners throughout their course of practice and act as tools by which they can evaluate themselves to ensure proficiency and safety in practice (Harper & Maloney, 2016).
