In the podcast, we also get to hear her talk about water sources and how these water sources are protected to help improve people’s standards of living (Candeias, 2019). Her primary strategy towards effective environmental management lies in her ability to help people connect to the environment and understand that their lives are connected to the ecosystem. As you listen to the podcast, the issue of resiliency amongst various genetics where we realize that some plants can survive in certain environmental conditions while others cannot. Rynear, explains some partnerships help in identifying restoration sites where different species can be recreated. However, there are challenges faced while trying to identify restoration location due to the nature of the existing land portions. Although animals are likely to transport seeds from one point to the other, they may also interfere with the soil structure preventing the seeds from germinating.

Sarah explains that one of the main initiatives that her group carries on to help in the conservation of the indigenous species is creating awareness amongst the human population on the dangers that these species are facing (Candeias, 2019). The idea of creating an amicable relationship between the people and the plants also comes up. She describes it as a process to establishing a partnership with the plants because we primarily depend on them for existence especially since we exchange gases with the plants during the breathing process. Ep. She also points out that one may start as a researcher but end up deeply involved in politics since the entire process may involve lots of negotiations and extensive discussions. Also, the public is said to play a significant role in this process since it is possible to get information from people by asking them questions to help gain a better understanding of a particular tree species.

Ep. 187 - In Love with Native Plants According to Aubree Keurajian, Ungardening native plants restoration is a small scale restoration that focuses on providing people with restoration tools and native plants as well. She defines Eco typically native plants as plants that have evolved within a particular ecosystem. Cavender-Bares says that she is highly interested in plant function and the evolution of the physiological process in plants. She argues that her love for plants might have led to her studying environmental issues and that she has always been a plants person. After attaining her master’s degree in forest ecology and he was trying to figure out what to study before she realized her developing interest in oaks (Candeias, 2019). She realized that she could consider hardwoods from an evolutionary perspective after she went down to south Florida to review them before finding out that the diversity of oaks and their habitats was intriguing.
