Internet impacts on society

Different researches have been conducted to determine the pros and cons of different areas within a community. Some involve the relationship between the internet and economy, consequences in youths, online interactions and many others. Some of these researches will be the supporting foundation for this work. Though the internet has negative impacts on the society, I believe it has impacted more positively thus it remains relevant to our lives. Many advantages have risen due to the internet. In recent years, the use of the internet has increased and its advantages superseded the negative outcomes. It is important for people to understand the different advantages and also the negative side of the internet so that they can use it appropriately (TAY, 2015). Understanding how the internet can improve their lives will ease ways of handling different activities.

For instance, if a family member travels to a different country in a different continent, the others can communicate with her easily through the internet thus reducing the cost of travelling. Also, people can take classes far from lecture rooms through online classes. Even today, there are people who are conservatives especially the aged and do not want to associate with it. People feared being hacked thus losing their wealth. Access to pornographic materials by children led to parents avoiding the internet. With time, this has changed. More people have endorsed the internet and are using it to conduct different activities (WELLMAN, HAASE, WITTE & HAMPTON, 2001). A society that keeps its people up-to-date with the current issues is able to prosper fast.

The internet is the largest source of information in the world. It contains information from the past to current situations. The information kept there is preserved well and cannot be lost easily. It is also easy to retrieve at any given time. However, this claim requires more research to be proven. Claims support The controversial issue at hand is that the internet impacts more positively to the society that negatively thus it should be integrated into society more. With the existing advantages that internet is associated with, it is therefore right to argue that it should be made accessible to everyone so that more opportunities can be discovered thus making life more comfortable. Also, research done has shown that the internet is becoming more integrated with different industrial sectors, schools and business organizations for different activities.

The reasons for supporting my claims are many and are to be discussed in this essay. Research scholars and other students have had an easy time conducting researches due to the existence of the internet. Research indicates that the internet is becoming a great source of information that is latest, verified, accurate and convenient to use (Kibirige, & DePalo, 2017). Researches have been done on internet use in academics and have shown that more people are embracing its use. Lecturers today are using schools’ websites to distribute assignments and also providing reading materials to students. This makes it easier to monitor students in school and away (Aparicio, Bacao & Oliveira, 2016). Preliminary counterclaim The use and impacts of the internet towards society are subject to criticism.

Many controversial topics have been discussed over time where different opinions have been raised. In this section, I will be discussing two of the major controversies associated with internet use in a community. The controversies will be supported by research conducted and also a counterclaim to each will be provided. The first controversy will be about internet hacker communities while the other one will be about the internet as only a single source of information that is used for research. For instance, over forty million people got hacked on the Chegg platform. Their personal information such as emails, names and locations were obtained. All this occurred in 2018. Though there are numerous hacks that have led to the loss of crucial data in recent years, it does not mean that all hackers are evil.

Researchers believe that any information stored on the internet is basically public provided it is on the public domain (Gupta, 2019). al, 2014). Ethically, such information can be referenced or the source cited. However, the crucial factor with such information is how it is addressed in the public domain. Hackers contribute a lot in the digital world. They are obligated with the provision of innovations in the digital hub through monitoring technology and policies developed. There is a lot of information on the internet thus creating an overload and contradicting data (Kibirige, & DePalo, 2017). It is, therefore, necessary to be careful when selecting the type of information to be used in your research. Research indicates that it is easy to steal someone’s work from the internet and thus make it yours.

This is unethical as the original owner does not get recognition of his work (Gagan & Rakesh, 2013). For a researcher to obtain information from the internet, he has to go through many websites to get the right data required since there is no systematic organization of data as it is in the case of a library. All these and many advantages associated with internet use and academics make the internet a great and more reliable source of information. Preliminary Conclusion The internet has become a vital part of the society in the day-to-day activities. There has been a lot of debate on the impacts that the internet has imparted on the society. Some are good while others are negative. The purpose of this research was to prove that, the internet has brought in numerous advantages that have led to ease of communicating, doing business, learning and many other reasons that have been discussed above.

Different governments have put tough policies on hackers hence more security has been put in place. This is encouraging and it is prompting people to use internet more. Some experts believe that use of social media has led to youths being disconnected to the society because they spend more time on these platforms chatting with strangers they have never met and become friends. This has led to the teens lacking direct contact with their peers. However, this claim is counterclaimed by the fact that interaction on social media has led to exchange of ideas between these peers across the globe. Most of the implications are positive hence the society has become better. In conclusion, since the invention of internet, many opportunities have been developed.

Different activities have been made easy due to use of the internet. Numerous positive attributes have been associated with internet use in the society as discussed in this work.
