Therefore people receive messages, even though no communication is intended, though various forms of non-verbal behaviors. In addition, this communication skill aid in relationship and interaction building, such as from empathy and sympathy. • Negotiation skills – these are important skills for the creation of relationship since relationships require peace and trust, thus negotiation skills are ideal in resolving conflicts by concentrating on mutual agreement.

Through negotiation, individuals come to settle on equal grounds for the outcomes and goals. • Listening skills – in order for an individual to receive information or messages, listening skills are required. They are also necessary to give appropriate feedback accordingly. This means communication is a process that involves interaction, that is, as one individual is talking, the other one is listening, but at the same time sending feedback in form of head nods, smiles etc. The message – message not only refers to the information being conveyed or speech used but also the non-verbal communications involved like gestures, facial expressions, body language and voice tones. Non-verbal behaviors may communicate extra information on the message. Also, it can disclose the emotions and attitudes involved in the information content.

Context – interpersonal communication is defined and influenced by the context where it occurs. Interpersonal communication is of great importance in the day to day lives of human beings and it can be used in diverse situations. First, its main role is sharing of information and through the process, relationships are created and developed, problems are solved and decisions made as well as forming new links and contacts.
