I had African roots. In 1954, there was a Supreme Court Ruling and it did not affected by education, which disappointed me. When I grew up, my parents and family members kept on saying to me that do not get in trouble, do not get into the way of the struggle, but that was the way I chose. Martin Luther King was the source of my great inspiration that made me to choose the way of the struggle to fight for the civil rights and against racism. I attended a seminary in Nashville, Tennessee where I learnt about how to protest and assisted in organizing one protest where I was arrested for the first time. After a well-planned protest, a group of troopers attacked and I was beaten this time suffered a fractured skull.
