The paper also seeks to elaborate on the implications of the policies on the Multi National Enterprise (MNEs) from the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries looking for investment in the United States and European markets. Background information The slogan Make America great again engulfed the United States politics since 1980. It was used by President Ronald Reagan (Kinsella, 2017). The slogan is expected to be the next pacesetter on the United States politics. After a period of 40 years, the slogan made a comeback with the current United States of America president Donald Trump.

The American people wanted change and eager to see he will grow the economy better than the previous presidents. His major policies included: 3. Global War on Terrorism War Act. The Act on Global war against terrorism was signed on August 18,2017 (Hansler, 2018). In the Act Trump proposed the idea of constructing am memorial mall for the remembrance and memories of the efforts by the United states military fight against terrorism. The aim of the idea was to generally boost the economic growth. The move may not favor the multi-national companies operating in the United States or the companies that would wish to expand the market to the United States. Trade Agreement, Violations and Abuses Act Trump beliefs that any business or trade deal that lead to more imports compared to export should be considered as a bad approach to the economy, job creation and innovations market as a whole (Vice, 2017). The United States accused China of ‘dumping’ their Aluminum in the country. A great percentage of American businesses and companies rely on affordable aluminum imports. A close of these channels may slow down the investment process from the external multinational companies that use Aluminum products. Foreign policy plan Donald Trump approach on foreign policies came as a shock to many. He opposed the formats and alignments of trading blocks that existed since the world war 11 period (Friedman, 2017). Britain tops as the best exporter of world services mostly in the United States.

Trump's policies target eliminating the cheaply manufactured goods and services, rather than the valued goods from Britain and other countries. Donald trump victory made the pound gain strength against world economies. Negative impacts on the United States and global economy As much as the president Donald Trump administration being keen on making America great again policies, the country is facing some challenges that cannot be ignored (English. European Union nations may risk being sanctioned by Donald Trump administration if the nations involve Iran in business (Buncombe, 2018). China The Chinese stock market indicates signs of being most affected by Donald Trump presidency. This tension and uneasy operation mode was facilitated by Trumps utterances during the campaign trail which claimed that China is manipulating the currency (Bouoiyour and Selmi, 2016). The Trump protectionist idea will automatically cause great harm to the trade flows and capital between China and United States. United States is the largest market for the goods coming from China.

The export from China accounts for approximately twenty percent of the global exports. The uncertainty about how Trump will implement the tariffs targeting South Africa is reaping big in gold prices. The investors are now rushing to get the product in a move of avoiding the market shakeups. Since South Africa is among the giant world Gold producers the nations product will giant confidence in the external markets. Brazil depends much on imported commodities, the move targeting imposition of tariff on products will greatly slow down the recession recovery process. Positive impact Donald Trump Protectionism method may not affect the BRICS economies much since the development agenda for these nations do not rely much on foreign free trade and financing (Global Network Perspectives, 2016). The financing and free trade protects countries from potential foreign changes in policies governing the markets. The United States president and Russian leader Putin have similar characteristics. The Britain Brexit option was a move to protect the British workers and industries. Therefore this was a protectionism move. Britain was initially part of the European Union (Managementstudyguide. com, 2018). This indicates that the western world is embracing protectionism. The tariff came as a result of his strong stand on protectionist policies. Other nations such as Brazil, Australia, South Korea and Argentina will only be allowed to export specified quotas and volume limits imposed.
