Use of oxygen and opioids in the palliation of dyspnoea in hypoxic and non-hypoxic palliative care patients: a prospective study. Supportive Care In Cancer, 17(4), 367-377. doi: 10. 1007/s00520-008-0479-0 The study was non-randomized that involved 46 patients who had mild to severe dyspnea aimed at investigating the use of oxygen in hypoxic and non-hypoxic palliative care patients. The study involved the monitoring of pulse oximetry oxygen saturation, carbon dioxide partial pressure, and pulse frequency using a SenTec digital monitor. Humidification during oxygen therapy and non-invasive ventilation: do we need some and how much?. Intensive Care Medicine, 35(6), 963-965. doi: 10. 1007/s00134-009-1457-9 The study aimed at investigating the role of humidification and at what level is it necessary. The study involved comparing research from two peer-reviewed articles on the role an extent in which humidification should be brought in (Ricard & Boyer, 2009).

To conduct a meta-analysis of articles containing randomized controlled trials where high inspired oxygen levels and concentrations were compared against standard oxygen concentrations to assess the impacts on development of SIS. 21 articles were used. They proved that oxygen exerts a high significance when it comes to the prevention of Surgical site infections. which is independent of the deleterious effects of nitrous oxide when it comes to the standard preparations of oxygen concentration. The study recommends the use of hyperoxia to slow down wound infections, mostly during colorectal surgery (Qadan, 2009). w1815 The quality improvement project aimed at producing sustained and meaningful improvements in oxygen use across four standards. The projected four levels of interventions including oxygen alert stickers, new oxygen prescription chart, senior-led educational sessions and point of care resources (Rudge, Odedra & Harrison, 2014).

They tested the interventions on an Acute Medical Unit over a seven-day period and BTS data collection forms were used for data collection. The research aimed at investigating causes of poor oxygen use and come up with best guidelines for oxygen prescription. Lack of understanding on good prescription procedures was identified as the leading cause of poor oxygen use among healthcare providers (Rudge, Odedra & Harrison, 2014). 1590/s1679-45082010ao1377 The study aimed to assess level of oxygenation in a patient by means of pulse oximetry, and avoiding hypoxia, hyperoxia, and waste. Several calculations were made with 95% confidence level and a 7% margin of error. Physical therapists were advised to check pulse oximetry in all the patients who had prescriptions for physical therapy, they were also instructed to observe the scheduled number of procedures.

The study investigated 129 participants. The results are that hyperoxia was predominant in sectors where there was constant monitoring of patients while hypoxia was noted in cases where there was no continuous monitoring. It also aimed to investigate permissive hypoxemia as a management criterion for cases of hypoxemic in critically ill patients (Martin & Grocott, 2013). The study designed involved search on PubMed using related keywords. The study identified numerous articles addressing critical illness in hypomania patients. The researchers subjectively assessed data and combined them to come up with conclusions. The outcomes of the study was that excess oxygen administration and inadequate tissue oxygenation could be detrimental. , & Grocott, M. Oxygen Therapy in Critical Illness. Critical Care Medicine, 41(2), 423-432. doi: 10. 1097/ccm. Archives Of Surgery, 144(4), 359. doi: 10.
