The likelihood of winning and the utilization of right management skills are on their behalf besides the exposure to some of the cultural shock (Briley, 2015) SUMMARY OF THE MOVIE Jack Elliot as the main character plays the roles of an aging baseball player who moves to Japan and clashes with the Japanese culture. He finds himself on the Eastern Baseball scene. In this scene, it is clear that he is ready to incorporate all his tactics and skills hitherto leaned in order to win the game. A lot of problems are encompassing him, this prepares him to incorporate on the right adaption methods to the new environment and use the opportunity to prove that he can improve his career despite the numerous challenges.

Part ONE Concept 1: a. Power Distance Concept in the Movie Power distance is a situation in which there is existence of differences in terms of cultures and optimally the bests solution given is always the best and adhered to in order to avoid such repercussions (Hu, 2017) The scene reveals a character that is not aware that two cultures can coexist to develop a better power towards the success of the team (Kinicki, & Fugate, 2012).   In the context, Jack is portrayed power distance by being adamant since he feels his advice and opinions are the bests to solve Japanese's team problems. His approach to the scene seems to be annoying to the manager Mr. Ken Takakura for being disrespectful. What would be the result of my approach? From the scene, the characters are in a position where no one wants to accept that the opinions of the other personal matter.

My approach would give Uchiyama (Ken Takakura, manager) a chance to exercise his power as the manager and listen to what he has to offer. As an expatriate, this would reveal respect and Elliot would not have been suspended for his actions. Uchiyama should make sure that all his players are culturally bound and sensitive to avoid any form of disrespected acts to the host cultures. Often is it is considered as a breach of harmony and this can cause problems probably, to the manager. What would be the result of my approach? The generated approach can help reduce psychosocial and cultural shock in advance before compromising with other people’s ways of living. The final result of my approach would be a more culturally sensitive society.

Employees and team members would find it easy to relate if people are receptive to the traditions of other nations. Part ONE Concept 1: c. Uncertainty Avoidance Index a) Uncertainty avoidance index is the situation in which the society intolerants uncertainties related to cultural differences throughout the international lines. The film shows how Elliot grew to like the Japanese culture and even accepted to work with his team members. I would also try to adhere with my managers’ directions bearing in mind he wants the best from me and my success is determinant by his efforts to take me far places to explore my capability in playing baseball. What would be the result of my approach? The result of my approach would be a more culturally inclusive approach and attitude towards new countries with different cultures.

Exploring my tactics in playing baseball can accrue a lot of success in terms of education, financial exposition, and social understanding. What I would do differently Hiroko should have led Jack to her home and therefore go with him to his native homeland. The lady understands that Jack is the sovereign person in the house and he needs respect. American culture is very dynamic since the courtship process involves a man making advances to lady but not Hiroko doing it. What would be the result of my approach? I would consistently encourage Jack to ease himself while in other international countries. This is because hating other people’s culture does not guarantee you to have the authority to get into contact with the own culture.

Maybe he thought that it was a way of making fun or that it was a chance to goof around. What I would do differently The first thing I would do before getting to work in a new country is to get some prior teaching on how to handle myself in a foreign country. I would have asked Hiroko to show me how it is done to avoid embarrassing myself or judging other cultures the wrong way. I would also encourage myself to always compose myself before I take any mischief and unbearable conducts. What would be the result of my approach? Acquiring new knowledge on the basis of cultural differences, I have to be ethnocentrism by accepting on the other people’s ways of living.

Ken as the manager does not condone the behaviors of jack and Hiroko speaks of her father and Jack speaks of himself. How the scene exemplifies the concept Baseball players have undergone many experiences in the playground. This is seen when Jack draws the audience attention by displaying his curious knowledge of cultural diversity. However, throughout the scene, it is clear that people of diverse abilities and cultures can sit together and share in a conversation and even have near similar experiences (Maslin, 2017).  Also the coming of Hiroka into the life of Jack diversified romantic nature bearing in mind Jack really criticized Japan culture and termed it as useless. Each party would be able to understand each other’s emotions and feelings and focus on a common goal.

Expatriates have the challenge of ensuring that the diversity issue is not a weakness but strength to understand new concepts and borrow new ideas. As a manager, there should be a that close relationship, probably when dealing with my employs to endeavors all the required process and hence yield great returns. This is very crucial to maximize high performance and cultivate the value of hard work Part 2 general OB concept 2. Reinforcement Reinforcement involves presenting some stimuli that would either motivate an individual positively or negatively towards certain objectives (Kinicki, & Fugate, 2012). Therefore, as an expatriate, I would strive to be better at my work. Jack should have been the one in the forefront of the exercise routine to avoid reinforcement, where he had to undergo a rough exercise as the other players went on with other duties.

I would also purpose to form a different strategy to ensure that my players work together as a team for the goal of all. This strategy includes making sure that my players are exercising every morning, the team is provided with all the necessary requirements. This will boost the overall functionality in terms of performance and hence we are winning matches despite the geographical region. Elliot has come of age and understands that teamwork is when an individual devotes his time to ensure that fellow teammates can grow and be better What I would do differently It is crucial that I purpose to address the way of living of other countries with a different perspective regarding on their beliefs and exposition, as it is evident, the director has shown that there needs to be a change for expatriates to enjoy life in a foreign country.

Elliot is used as an emblem of how people always remember home when contracted to work in far-off nations. However, with a change of attitude Elliot is part of a team and takes great pride in helping his teammates achieve great milestones. What would be the result of my approach? I would be considerate in terms of how I will interact with my coaches, managers towards the achievement of common goal. This is very crucial since the competitors are always on the viewpoint of observing the loopholes and penetrating through it for a score. How the scene exemplifies the concept Perception is what determines our attitude towards new ideas, culture, and workmates. Elliot eventually comes to like the Japanese teammates and the people.

The scene exemplifies that some people may understand some ideologies for instance, opinions, ideas and cultures regarded as fake but in future, this can be helpful. What I would do differently Personally I will weigh the options of the cultures and respond to them on the right way despite the overall repercussions that may befall. If incase there is psychosocial problem, then I can utilize the necessary measures to deal with them. For Elliot, he was punishment and the general yields generated were good since after all, they won the game. What I would do differently I would ensure that I follow the lead of the manager and my seniors to avoid any form of punishment. Punishment is not enjoyable and the audience can see how Elliot has to work extra hard in training as the other players just relax.
