The Native Americans are the original people of America, the findings of their demographic, immigration, cultural practices, contributions and challenges they face is one of the main reason for the study. The exploration of these insights will give an overall view of today’s Native Americans. The study will focus only on Native Americans and will generalize their cultural activities and not for a specific tribe of Native Americans. Therefore, the description is based on the point of view of all Native Americans. Literature Review Demographic profile The population of the Native Americans is profoundly studied by the Black people in conjunction with the federal government of the United States. The federally documented Native tribes of America is 566 at the moment.

However, there is an extension of these tribes from documented ones. The tribes differ in the population sizes and others are larger than another tribe. The recognition of about 1. 93 million by the United States Census that are the Native of Alaska or American Indians alone with particular tribes. The recognized households of this population are about 795,000 with a family household of about 69% and non-family household of about 31%. Of the 795,000, about 545,000 households of the family are categorized as families that are married, female-headed family and male-headed family. The married families are about 59%, the female-headed family is about 30%, and the male-headed family is about 11% of households. The constitution of the non-family is the households that people or individuals live alone or without family members or living with non-family persons.

The households of non-family are about 250,000, where individuals living alone have approximately 80% of households and those living with non-family members are about 20% (Evans-Campbell, 2008). However, there is no scientific proof to the Native Americans belief of the rain, sun and other forces are spirits controlled. The Native Americans worshipped sun, rain, plants, animals, and Animal Spirits and Power Animals (winds). During their ceremonies and festival, or prayers they appease gods to get a favor. The beliefs, traditions, and religion of the Native Americans people were controlled by the Shamanism culture where the leader of the religious is referred to as Medicine Man or Shaman who was the intermediate between the spiritual and physical world. The leaders had special powers, magic power and the medic of curing people of their sickness, prediction of the future of people and nature, and take charge of the hunt (Counihan & Van Esterik, 2012).

The population of the people of Native American has grown to about 4. 8 million in the United States. Discrimination According to the finding of the polls, a third of the Native American have encountered discrimination in the interaction with the police and workplaces. More than a third have gone through violence and slurs with their family members. The discrimination is more likely to Native Americans who are in majority of the areas of Native (America King, 2009). The use of Quinine. Discussion The world perception of the Native Americans is that they as uncivilized people. It is believed by some people that Native people of America are blood-thirsty.

This misconception has portrayed them as backward individuals (Deloria, 1995). Native American used to collectiveness effort of their society as opposed to the individualism. The communities work as a family and had a leader of the family household who takes care of the whole family. Some of few households were individualism but in s=a small portion as compared to those with collectivism. Health was a major challenge the people of Native American underwent especially during the raid of the European. Their numbers were greatly reduced because of diseases (Dobyns, 1983).
