Apparently, it is now advocated that medical practices should always be evidence-based to ensure high-quality services and results. Evidence-based practices are achieved through research and consultation with colleagues and other professionals within and outside the given facility. According to Finkelman, (2015), Nursing care models that are employed in given scenarios significantly varies depending on a set of circumstances of a patient as well as one facility to another. Evidently, there are several nursing care models in place, and some are being developed with advancements in the health sector. Care models include the following: complementary models, care, and service team models, functional nursing model, team nursing model, primary nursing model, inter-professional practice model and synergy model. After all the team members had got into the emergency room, the team leader was overseeing the patient management and delegating duties to all the nurses according to their areas of specialty.

According to my observation, each team member was responsible for handling the patient in regards to their specialty. For instance, the team leader was overseeing and delegating duties to each nurse. Therefore, in regards to the events, the model applied in the scenario was functional nursing care model. In the functional model, labor is divided according to an individual’s specialty in a given area. Thus, it is evident that individualized care is compromised significantly. Another care delivery model is the case management model. Panagioti et al. , (2015) records that, the term case management care model was first used in the early 1970s. The model integrates provider and patient satisfaction as well as providing a method that gives holistic healthcare concerns. Top priority patients for the model include the following: those with significant variances, those who are unpredictable or pattern less, as well as those at high risk of socio-economic factors, such as care cost (Kreuzburg et al.

As aforementioned, Hudon et al. , (2015), adds that the core aspects of case management care model are problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and clinical decision making skills. All those aspects are essential for a case manager to give the best outcomes in the process of care delivery to the patient. Typically, the case manager’s process format lays the foundation for the model. When nurses interact with other health professionals, they are likely to share ideas as well as experience on the effectiveness of the models that they employ in their process of care delivery. Thus, learning from colleagues and implementing during care delivery to their clients. The implementation of the current care model is not taking place with immediate effect and instead, the old models get washed away slowly with time.

Besides, newbie nurses in the facilities contribute significantly towards the implementation of the current models (Finkelman, 2015). It is apparent that the newbies are fresh from class and they are capable of adopting the current models rather than employing the old models that were in use over many years ago. The EBP, nursing care model, is applicable in all settings as the nurse responsible is mandated to practice based on evidence of the effectiveness of the methods and procedures that they will employ in their care delivery process. The advantage of this model is that it gives a space for inter-professional collaboration as well as interaction to ensure that the care provided to clients is satisfactory and of high quality (Davidson & Everett, 2015).

Implementing this model into care delivery is meaningful as it is apparent that any medical errors can easily be avoided as the care is based on evidence of effectiveness. Also, suffering in patients can be avoided as the practice will always modify and improve errors that were done in the previous cases. Besides, it is apparent that the safety of the care givers will be guaranteed since everything is evidence-based and causation will be put into consideration during the care delivery (Cherry & Jacob, 2016).
