The second standard has been deeply anchored on the philosophy of person-centred care which endeavours to view different individuals involved in the provision of health care as an equal partner in planning, monitoring care and developing to ensure the multiple needs are meet. There exist various avenues which are used in partnering with consumers to ensure that such corporation attains its objectives. Provision of health literacy and partnering with patients in their medical care are some of the conventional approached used by various agencies to improve healthcare. For instance, healthcare professionals are equipped with information regarding various medical ailments; therefore, if there exist the necessary structures, this information can be used to improve overall health. The health policy environment plays an imperative role in the health literacy since it provides a platform of whereby such information is disseminated. In the light of the above, it essential to analyze the role of health literacy as a way of partnering with the consumers.
