Ping An Finance Centre comprises of 100 office floors situated above the retail and conference podium. This tower was designed to accommodate more than 24,000 people at every single time, inclusive of workers and daily passengers. Ping An Finance Centre is supported by eight stone mega-columns diagonally positioned and with a more stable ground level. Ping An Finance Centre’s chevron-shaped columns are elevated six hundred meters above the ground and with all the columns converging at the extreme/highest edge of the tower, thus converging the tension of the earth to a single point up in the sky. Exteriorly, the tower is covered in sleek/attractive glass to enhance natural lighting and stone to reinforce the wall to make it more stable and help it withstand external tensions.

A number of wind engineering tests were performed prior to the commencement of construction of the skyscraper. There was need to perform these wind tests due to the weather condition of the location where Ping An Finance Centre was constructed, an area confirmed to experience extremely strong winds that would affect the longevity of the building. After the entire wind test, a successful construction plan, a cladding design was arrived at, all thanks to engineers and Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) structural designers. The design of Ping An Finance Centre was influence by the growing employee population and passengers visiting Ping An Insurance. The tower was therefore designed to accommodate the population within the least available space. ’ ‘The building is also defined by a central atrium’, that is a central well naturally lit space.
