This is based on statistics and research done by American Psychology Association, where it is reported that marriages that are breaking, or couples that divorce, reflects to their mental and health state. A healthy family, will have collaboration in any activity and connection will be mutual. Based on postmodern theories or rather therapy, it is easier for one to have a smooth and possible divorce. In postmodern and family system therapy, it is also possible to have a healthy relationship that will not lead to separation through order and open conversation that are interesting to both parties. The main cause of divorce are related to economic interdependence, social factors, legal aspects and moral constraints. These features describes a society which is continually growing based on diversity and there is an increase in grouping that is influenced by culture, age, gender and preferences.
The broad diversity is triggered by the subcultural groups that have been initiated either through religions and beliefs or through ethnicity, (Brym & Lie, 2010). In this case, people are creating their preference which help in identifying them through the wide range of choices they have. Some of these factors that promote subcultures are sex preferences, youth subcultures and environmentalism, (Ellis, n. d. In socials constructionism, reality is based on the use of language and the expression of events that are done by the one living in that moment. In this case, it is clear that a person is stressed or rather depressed, when he or she adopts the definition of self-depression. People thoughts are the main players in explaining the postmodern approach especially while handling divorce case. As a therapist, it is good to understand that social constructionism is critical towards the knowledge of being “take-for-granted”, ((Greenhalgh & Stacey, 2010).
The reason why couples divorce nowadays is due to various factors that are related to the postmodern and family system, (Marcassa, 2013). Based on the third therapy, the therapist has to solve the problem stated by the client through talk and collaborations that is established through collaborative relationship. In this case, the divorcing couple will state their problems and the therapist will engage them in a talk that will be collaborative, (Greenhalgh & Stacey, 2010). Divorce is a very diverse issue that entails parties that definitely have different opinions about the case. When a therapist handles any divorce case, he or she has to focus on the effects or the outcome that the solution he will offer will have. In this case, while using a postmodern approach, there is a wide arena for benefits.
When handling a divorce case, the therapist has to avoid making the assumption that is based on the value of unique stories stated by the client. If a therapist decides to approach a divorce issue based on solution-focused therapy, he or she will be paying attention to what the client will be saying and assumes that they don’t have any position in handling the issues. The client will establish their own goals and preferences since they were the one controlling the situation. Another goal that the therapist has to have is creating am mutual respect and affirmation through therapeutic process. Posting of miracle questions will also help the client to identify goals on their own, (Nave, 2012). Divorce is an individual right while viewed in the belief system of postmodernisms without considering the circumstances that lead to it.
Postmordern approach helps in traeting variety of conditions such as depression, addisction and schizophrenia. the approch reliefs stress leaving the client relaxed and enahancing memory and social activitties. Social constructioism determines the solutiuon based on the reality spoken by the person living in the events. For the case of divorce, the expression that the divorcing parties will give, will be accurately regarded as reality and the divorcing couple will offer solutions based on their daily activities and evenets that take place in their marriage.
