Reduction of Falls in an Inpatient Setting

Those with mild conditions are given medication to go and get well while at home. These patients who are admitted to the hospital so that their conditions can be followed closely as known as an inpatient. The hospital is usually considered a safe place for these patients, but that is not the truth. These patients can face some challenges which can worsen their condition. An example of this problems is falling off inpatients within a health facility. During safety rounds, an individual can come across an individual who is at the risk of falling then help him or her. The fourth technique is to keep the patients busy so that they cannot roam every time exposing themselves to the risk of falling and getting hurt.

The last measure is to set bed alarms so that when the patient wants to move around, he or she can alert any of the hospital professionals who is around. Methodologies and Designs As mentioned above, a lot of research has been done in this field to find out the strategies that can help reduce the fall of patients as they have been presented. Due to these research, a lot of articles have been published, and they can be classified under qualitative, quantitative and mixed method. When there is little time the interview will not be complete, and it might leave some gap in the research study. The primary external validity issue that is related to this research is the impact of testing earlier.

In most cases, researchers usually carry out pretest in some aspects. Therefore, as they are conducted the interview, the pre-test might have a negative impact because they will assume most of the things and not include them. Using a different methodology could have benefitted from this study. In this problem, there could some changes that affect the subsequent analysis. For example, if the members of the focus groups get tired easily for instance after one hour, it will be difficult to gather some information. On the other hand, the external validity issue related to this research methodology used is the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Under this aspect, some individuals can be excluded from the focus group yet they have information that would be helpful for the research.

The other techniques which could have been used to collect data and information in this research is the random sampling technique. The technique which could have been used to make the research better is to interview the patients, staff, and administrators within the healthcare facility. Using the interviewing method would enable the researcher to ask various question freely thus acquiring the necessary information that is required. Conclusion Concluding, there has been a rise in the number of patients who fall within the healthcare facilities. This problem has been the leading cause of deaths and injuries in various health care centers. The increase in the rate of this problem calls for the need to come up with strategies that will be used to solve it.
