According to the website, hemodialysis is done externally while peritoneal dialysis is done internally. The website further delineates when one should go for dialysis. The website provides symptoms that could signal the likelihood of kidney failure including nausea, swelling, and fatigue. The website lastly discusses hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis in depth, clearly guiding readers, patients and practitioners when they should each case of the type of dialysis. Length of Time Spent Researching at the Site: It took me half an hour to search, evaluate the relevance of the research topic and paper topic, read, and summarize the content discussed. In their attempts to navigate some of the complications that could be profiled during dialysis, the authors found that cardiovascular is the most prevalent complication associated with dialysis.

To demonstrate issues associated with dialysis, Vadakedath and Kandi (2017) using hemodialysis. They argued that during dialysis, the dialysis membrane is subjected to an immunological response to substances of low molecular weight, making it permeable to granulocytes. The activation of granulocytes stimulates it to release reactive oxygen species and exaggeration of oxidative stress. The malfunctioning kidney results in the production of free radiation due to the activation of macrophages, vascular cells, and glomerular cells. The opening chapters provide a discussion of a wide range of aspects of dialysis access planning such as the selection of the appropriate access to strategies that suits patient needs. The book goes further discussing hemodialysis access techniques starting from the basic ones to unconventional and complex ones.

The book offers a step-by-step description and guidance on follow-up. Additionally, the edition provides a discussion of the challenging management of specific dialysis access surgery complications such as failing access to hemodialysis. The book offers an in-depth information regarding hemodialysis packed with high-quality images that offer succinct illustrations regarding hemodialysis access. They found that dialysis requiring AFR is associated with 28-fold increased risk of stage 4 or 5 chronic kidney disease development and 2-fold risk of death. The article places a higher premium on the need of dialysis-requiring AFR to prevent the development of a chronic kidney disease. The information article can provide an informed decision-making strategy regarding the management of acute renal failure to avoid its progression to chronic kidney disease. Length of Time Spent Researching: I took a total of four hours reading journal articles related to the development of renal failure from its acute form to chronic level.

I read four articles that related to this impact of acute renal failure on subsequent developments. Upon going further to break hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis into smaller dialysis methods, the website goes explains the advantages and disadvantage of using a specific technique of dialysis and what can be done at best to improve patient outcomes. The website also discusses the cons and pros of using kidney transplant. The conservative management strategies provided include symptom control and quality of life improvement for individuals diagnosed with the disease. The article also delineates the cons and pros of exploiting this technique in renal or kidney failure management. The website provides information regarding the time patient can seek medical consultation and how to choose suitable treatment techniques.

The author argued that the knowledge that led to a temporary recoverable kidney failure and permanent renal shut-down all steered the success behind the scientific innovations involving artificial kidney and its application in dialysis. However, the author raises a concern of the limited availability and high cost involved in this type of treatment, which is one of the ethical concerns surrounding its applicability. Equity of access and when and whether the treatment could be denied are other ethical issues facing the applicability of this technique of renal failure treatment. The hiking costs as the number of patients experiencing kidney failure increased, the political and financial issues were raised and solved using a variety of strategies in different countries across the world.
