The research below conducted mainly to determine the reason why many students prefer privacy when it comes to matters dealing with social media. The study enabled the researchers to assess the social media platform usually used by students, ways of securing privacy, type of confidentiality preferred, kind of information used in social media, reasons for using the social network and the social network preferred by most students. The researchers used survey method to obtain the required information and Questionnaire as data collection instrument. Thirty students (14 male and 16 female) where used for the research, thus provided answers to the questionnaires. During analysis of the obtained data, the researchers used univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis methods. By using passwords, account owners provided with the opportunity to set their passwords and use them to lock their account when it is not in use (Pierson 2012).

The introduction of social media has turned to be advantageous to the students studying entrepreneurship. Through the media, the ability to advertise new business to the public made possible. Thus preventing the students from incurring a tremendous amount of money to promote a new business (Madden et al. Through this, the students are encouraged to come up with new business ideas that would attract the attention of both his schoolmates and social media friends. During the study on social media privacy, the researchers chose several kinds of literature that focused on the behaviours, economic issues, social issues and other factors that influence students to understand more about social media privacy.

The researchers ensured that variously suitable literature topic for the study selected, some of the issues chosen included. Social media Account hacking and impersonation The researchers confirmed that some of the students lost their accounts to unknown individuals. According to the researchers, the accounts of the individuals were hacked, thus assuring that the accounts were not that safe (Claypoole 2014). According to the researcher's students who did not know how to join the social media, had to pay a large some of the money for them to be included (Chaffey 2016). It also came into the researcher's concern that the creation of secure social media password provided at a high price (Lenhart 2007). According to the researchers, the high economic impact has been caused by social media, due to the type of technology required (Networks 2017).

The students accepted that it needed them to be in possession of a laptop or an expensive phone for them to be able to operate a Facebook or Twitter account (Wolf 2015). Thus, this increased their daily expenses while at school. Univariate, bivariate and multivariate data analysis methods also used to analyse the data obtained from the students. Pie charts, table charts, and graphs then illustrated the data RESULTS. The below table and pie chart describes the univariate analysis of the status of students in social media at Whitireia Community Polytechnic. A majority (60%) of the students confirmed that they were married. While 30% of the students where single. The chart combines the analysis the gender of the students, the status of the students and the activities the students prefer doing in social media. The study showed 47% of the male students in the school, 50% of the male students were married, 30% single and 20% divorced. 60% of them preferred reading from the sites, and 20% choose playing games, and the other 20% prefer doing business on the sites. 53% of the female students in the school, 20% were married, 50% were single and 30% divorced. For the social question in the questionnaire, the research showed that: almost all students were members of social media sites. Most students preferred only friends to view their social media displays. According to the research, the main reason most of the most male and female students used social media for reading and doing research.
