This can be implemented when nurses consider diverse needs, priorities, circumstances, and different goals of each family and its members during healthcare delivery. Despite the fact that every family is unique, they all share some universal features. In this paper, various functional and structural patterns, social cultural data, ways through which different parties in a family communicate, basic functional influences on health promotion, family roles and relationship are examined. Description of Nuclear Family Form A nuclear family is a two-generational family that is comprised of a husband, wife and their children either biological, adopted or both residing in one household (Friedman, Bowden & Jones, 2003). In this paper, the family of interest is the Alphas family. He has also helped his younger sister to join university for her nursing degree.

Up to this far, the family has gone through various developmental stages such as transition, establishment, childbearing, expansion of the family from two individuals to four, contraction where children have grown into adults thus started depending on themselves. Moreover, exchange of roles is another developmental stage in this family. As the parents grows old, Rodgers, their first born son takes over the role of being the bread winner. Sociocultural Data. Catherine is not able to drive therefore to travel to her places such as visiting friends and other travels for pleasure, she depends on other family members who all knows how to drive. Communication The quality of communications within a family is inclined to conversation and abidance perspectives which merge to create a consensual and a protective communication climate within the same family (Eggenberger & Sanders, 2016).

In Alpha’s family, respect is a major consideration in communication which mostly done in English. Rodgers and Stella find their father authoritative while Catherine is gentle and less rational. The families usually have meetings on Fridays when Stella and Rodgers are around from school and work respectively. There is a healthy coalition between the parents and the two children that has enhanced a collective and harmonized healthy leaving environment. Role structure In an overall basis of patriarchal or formal societies, parents mostly take the higher stake of role in providing for the children in socio-economic, spiritual and financial perspectives. Formal roles are set in such a manner that every family member knows what he or she is supposed to do.

Alpha is the chief bread winner through his carpentry earnings, Catherine coordinates and supervises household tasks. She also sells clothes In essence of increasing family income. Other important values that are strictly followed in this family include the religious values which are demonstrated through church attendance, abstinence before marriage, proper dress code and adherence to family rules and church commandments. Other general values that has guaranteed good relations include, general honesty, trustworthiness in assigned family roles, compassion and courage in all doings and general accepted code of required integrity. The norms of this family are mainly focused on building up of a respectable family name. Spiritual Activities Religious involvement of the nuclear family come through embedded practices firmly incorporated and intertwined with daily family habits (Ammerman & Roof, 2014).

Being catholic, the family is built on a strong foundation of adherence of Catholic Church doctrines. Adaptation The major source of conflict in Alpha’s family is their father being an adamant person. Whenever Catherine or the children do anything that is against the family values a conflict arises and restiveness dominates in the family dynamics and structure. Since Mr. Alpha hates the American culture, he strongly enforces the African culture to his children. By doing so, the children have major conflict with their father since their friends are practicing the American culture but them are forced to practice African culture. The family respect their son and therefore handle their health by carrying out frequent exercises, good lifestyle and eating well and balanced meals.

Also, Alpha’s family makes dentist appointments to ensure healthier tooth, physical practices and also Catherine (the mother) and Stella have routine gynecology appointments for their health checkup. in addition, the son, Rodgers is focused on ensuring that the family have preventive methods of care in their lifestyle. Interventions A recommendation that I would have to Alpha’s family is to continue taking balanced diet, continue having yearly appointments with doctors, health promotion efforts and prevention in order for them to ensure continuity of healthier lifestyle.
