Their first constitution known as Articles of Confederation proved to be too weak to control the state governments. It’s inability to tax people directly made it to lack revenue. Lack of money meant that the Americans could not afford or pay an army, either way, pay the huge debt that they had accumulated after the war1. The confederation was defiled by the American Indians and the Europeans claimed that they were not going to survive in their big geographical region. Different states were shaken by social clashes between the common people and the wealthy people over some issues that were related to credit and debt. The earlier leaders were not capable of comforting themselves hoping to have a successful and united government3. The Americans needed to sell the lands in the Western region to raise revenue. The investors of that time were afraid to acquire land especially in places that were too dangerous to settle. The United States needed to wage war and defeat the Indians, this, would, in turn, impress the western settlers. The prosperity of trade from the Mississippi to the New Orleans boomed thus attracting more settlers who moved to the West to exploit the fertile lands there. Lands were sold thus generating revenue for the government. The United States dramatically gained control over its western frontier.
