Amongst the vulnerable group, CORE has been keen on women and especially those with disabilities. Peoples with disabilities do come from all in that they could be young or old, male or female, from different ethnic backgrounds and even from different levels of household income. Over the years there has been little attention given to women with disabilities in that they were grouped the same with their male counterparts even though they face more hardships that their opposites. Through the years there has been the assumption that the policies and programs that are prepared for people with disabilities are supposed to be gender neutral. There are different kinds of books that will help us understand more about the lives of women with disabilities and what they go through.

Asch & fine, 1988:3 states that having a disability will shadow any other disadvantage or right that a person’s is denied. There has always been a focus on disability as it s on its own and there has never been consideration on the way that it will affect [people of different social backgrounds differently. Studies on disability have been blind to gender and have been general to al those that have been disadvantaged by it. The main role for any organization in this sector is to be the voice for the vulnerable, learn and identify needs, ensure that there is public awareness, advocating and fighting for change on how they are treated that is fight discrimination and oppression.

CORE having been formed in 2005 has been dealing with the vulnerable group which included runaways, single parents and homeless. This has helped the organization reach the clients that they felt most required their help in improving their way of livelihood. This categorization was generalized in that CORE has helped those from abusive homes, rape victims and to some extreme rehabilitated gang members and drug addicts. The organization members are made up of former clients and members of the society that they help therefore they know of the struggles that they face and are in an easier position to help the community. They will be the face for them as they tackle the government and other service providers for equal recognition in employment opportunities, health services, and better living and not be beggars looking for handouts in their own country.

On January 20, 2017, CORE held a women's march where women came together to let their voices be heard on human, social and economic justice. Events such as this have been efficient in creating awareness on what women are facing and will be effective for those women with disabilities in that they will get a chance to join their counterparts and get to voice their issues. Therefore they saw the need to ensure that they will handle issues of women with disabilities differently with that of women who have none. Even though the CORE is based in the US, they also face challenges in working with women with disabilities especially if do not get the support from governmental departments that are responsible for these communities. It’s therefore evident that poverty, unemployment, low-income households and people with and negative attitudes affect the treatment of women with disabilities.
