This study shall explore the relationship between Sergio Aguero and his coach pep Guardiola. Coach pep is 47 years. He has vast experience in the football sport having managed a number of teams since 1992 when he was a Spain football team captain. He has coached and managed many teams since then. Currently, he is the coach and manager of Manchester City football team. The success or failure of the relationship purely depends on the two parties. The relationship between a coach and an athlete is personal and is purpose driven. However, there are many factors which influence the relationship between the coach and an athlete. Some of the common factors which influence the relationships are cultural factor and individual differences. The section below presents an analysis of the coach-athlete relationship using the 3 + 1C’s.

Pep too admitted in an interview that, he feels comfortable working with Aguero, as they can share opinions and ideas with confidence that each opinion is acknowledged and respected. Commitment Commitment is a connection displayed through a process of shared thinking between an athlete and a coach. Positive commitment is characterized by common goals and purpose and an intention to work together as a team. The relationship between Aguero and Pep is strong because of the kind of commitment they display. Sharing common goal is another factor which makes the relationship functional. Actual similarity and empathetic understanding dominates the relationship between Aguero and Pep Guardiola. Actual similarity establishes the extent at which the coach and the athlete agree in terms of preferences, feelings, behaviour and goals.

Empathetic understanding is the principle at which the coach and the athlete respect the thoughts and opinions of each other regarding their football sport. Through a series of timely feedbacks between the coach and an athlete, some significant level of actual similarity has been realized. Respect can be seen in their conversation time after time. Communication is a process which involves listening, hearing, observing, questioning and evaluating a given form of information. In such a relationship, communication is unavoidable. Two-way communication is essential for a coach-athlete relationship. Communication determines the level of understanding between the coach and the athlete. In any communication, the context of the message must be considered. the body language of a coach during a football match sends critical message to the players.

The coach in this case study communicates with his athletes through a number of platforms such as team meetings, training sessions and social media platform. In most cases, individual communication happens when there is individual clarity or when clear and urgent feedback is required. Personal communication not only transpires, but is effective. Communication in coaching can happen between a coach and a player or a coach and a team. The motivating factor is validated by the athlete’s understanding ability. However, conflicts may arise occasionally between the coach and an athlete, especially due to emotions which result from losing a critical match. The coach and the athlete has a way of solving the conflicts soberly and coming up with better outcomes.

in general, two-way communication has been identified to be dominant and helpful in the relationship in this study. PART 2 Questionnaires a questionnaire is a document made up of a set of questions with a purpose of obtaining some predetermined information. For example, a simple pilot questionnaire can provide results on which further research can be carried out. Disadvantages The questionnaire method has a number of disadvantages. One of the most common disadvantages of the method is the design errors. The disadvantage arises from the fact that the questionnaire is made up of questions that are deemed relevant by the researcher. In some instances, the questions may ignore important questions which would have otherwise yielded the most desirable results. In such cases, the respondent may respond according to their understanding, which might be containing some errors.
