This paper intends to exhaustively discuss the various aspects of cross-cultural communication and how they ultimately influence business practices (Ferraro & Briody, 2017). The field report would be a case analysis of Russia and America. The two nations would be used to discuss what culture implies in a diverse cultural setting using the relevant theories and concepts learned in class. Besides, the paper will provide the various recommendations that could be used to enhance business practices basing on the cross-cultural communication dictates for better business transactions. Finally, the report would give the reader a preview of the lessons learned from the discussions and how they could be implemented in the business practices to pave the way for a standard commercial ground. On the other hand, the American corporate structure exhibits an open and collaborative system in which even the least ranked personnel can communicate what they deem relevant to them. It thus implies that America uses the Interpretive Approach Theory which advocates for the creation and maintenance of culture through communication. The third practice in the business set up that raises concern is communication. Russia can be attested to be fond of using the “low-context” culture. The nation tends to put more emphasis on words as opposed to the non-verbal mechanisms. Russia abhors formal conferences and objective affiliations in business premises that is to imply that Americans must posit themselves to operate under formality to survive in Russia.

Any form of causality in communication is considered disrespectful according to the cultural dictates of decorum. The culture allows a predestined kind of meeting in which members are briefed on what is expected of them. This confirms the phenomena embedded Critical Approach. On the other hand, American business practices allow less formal meetings that involve a series of debates depending on the job description of the particular job group. The last point tackles gender role practices. Both nations register an intention in the women roles while advocating for equality. Russia has a culture that advocates for better female treatment. For instance, if an American woman went trading in Russia she would be treated with all the due respect she deserves (Ayios, 2018).

The only challenge is that she has to struggle to be heard by the male counterparts who prove to be too domineering in most cases. Through the mastery of this essential topic, the parties would easily reach consensus in negotiations hence prosperity in business dealings. A mastery of the importance of the cross-cultural diversity will enhance civilization among the American and Russian Business counterparts (Samovar, 2014). Besides, such interactions would allow room for appreciation of diversity and even help identify the best ventures that would fit in both environs. Businessmen and women would relate freely without any party daunting the other. The American must forget about the non-verbal cues and only wait on the response through the word of mouth. The success of business practices in a cross-cultural communication setting is thus dependent on the tactics that one employs to fully understanding the counterpart. If Russia must succeed, then she must acknowledge the fact that culture plays a prominent role in communication. The US must also recognize the same the same to realize their business goals.
