One such situation is administering the wrong medication. This can take different forms. A nurse can either administer the wrong medicine due to ignorance. A nurse may also administer wrong medicine due to faulty patient records. The list of errors that may occur in a hospital is endless. This regards to backtracking the root causes of the errors to prevent or reduce the propensity of reoccurrence. A study conducted to determine the future challenges to the improvement of patient revealed several contributors to poor patient safety. These included poor reporting of errors or adverse response to drugs, poor communication between health institutions, limited use of technology and intense loads of work (Aljadhey, 327). IT professionals in a hospital are responsible for data management and maintenance of systems.

They are directly responsible for preventing errors that may occur due to faulty records. b) To establish the impact of culture on the roles played by IT experts in delivering their duties in the hospital. c) To establish the impact of employee training on performance with regards to the use of technology in the hospital. Expected outcomes of the study The knowledge obtained from realizing the kinds of software used in hospitals such as automated administration of medication and documentation in nursing, computerised physician order entry and patient record, clinical decision support as well as integrated pharmacy (Al-Haber, 14); can be applied to better medical services by reducing errors. By obtaining accurate information about the culture of blame which is still frequent in the Arab countries, medical care providers will be trained on the importance of reporting an incident with regards to bettering future performance.

By realizing the importance of training in establishing an IT system in a hospital, the knowledge obtained will be applied in defining a procedure which will be applied in setting IT systems in other hospitals (Aljadhey, 328). Sampling Strategy The target population for data collection shall consist of medical care providers in the hospital. Among the selected population, the response from IT professionals in the hospital will be used as the basic unit of analysis and observation. A sample size of five hundred respondents will be selected from the accessible medical care providers. (Creswell). Data collection The research will use both primary data and secondary data to come up with the results. The researcher will then check on reliability by testing on the coefficient of reliability from the different sets of data.

If the coefficient of reliability turns out to be positive, this shall imply that the instrument used will be reliable (Mugenda). Ethical considerations Prior to using the research instruments, an official letter shall be obtained from the learning institution as a permit to administer research in the area of interest. A visit will also be made to the local authorities’ administration offices of Riyadh to obtain the local authorities’ permit to conduct the research. The hospital administration shall also be consulted. (Mugenda).
