Importance Disasters can take different forms and nature; in the contemporary society, most learning institutions are facing new forms of disasters, which are different from the classical assumption mother nature-caused catastrophes. In today’s modern world is characterized by extremism, which has led to the escalation of terrorist activities among many countries. Therefore, it is important for schools, which most have become targets for terrorism, to have proper disaster recovery programs or training. Such initiative will equip students with the relevant information on how to protect themselves in the event of a terrorist attack in the class or school. Hence disaster recovery in school is imperative because it will help save lives in the event an attack (Yodmani, 2015). This will ensure that the school is up to date will the relevant skills and programs that would be beneficial for prevention of any future disasters that may occur.
