Most of the students end up sluggish in their academic responsibilities and at the end of it all, those that get deeper into alcohol and substance abuse drop out of school. The problem of alcohol and alcoholism in the university set up, however, cannot be looked at unilaterally. There are many factors that contribute to alcoholism in the university setting. The earlier statements describe cases where the students who indulge in alcoholism originate from well-off backgrounds, unlike the other case where students emanate from backgrounds. The second group of students gets into alcohol all to find solace for their unwavering problems. The analysis would also subdivide the data in terms of sex for further analysis and description of alcoholism as a phenomenon that is evidenced in the universities across the globe.

The subdivision of data in finer categories would also serve as a means to help identify areas that are prone to the alcoholism in as far regional sub-division is concerned. Take the case of students studying in Africa or those with an African origin and compare with those of an American, European, Asian, and Latin America and finally come up with a conclusive report about the impact of university life on alcoholism. The ethical principles in regard to alcohol and alcoholism in universities are clear on which way out to end alcoholism leave alone curbing alcoholism. The university ethical code in regard to alcohol and alcohol demand that students should not engage in alcohol and substance use. The students turn into alcoholism upon realization of the absence of parents in their environment and more significantly lack of parental guidance and supervision. Sampling Simple random sampling will make the central stage in the process of data collection and analysis. SRS would help breakdown the large population into small groups for easier handling and manipulation. The method works out well since the manual collection of information across various universities would be tedious, time-consuming and more costly in the process (Calhoun, Maggs and Loken, 2018). The information would be gathered from willing campus students across a section of 20 universities and data tabled for analysis in regard to the research question. The SPSS tool would be employed at the end in the analysis section so as to give valid and relatively reliable information for further interpretation and use in the research paper.

The SPSS analysis research design would use the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and in cases that that qualitative data applies, then content analysis of secondary forms of data would hold. Any form of data analysis that would arise in the event of data collection and analysis phase would be open to using it at all it suits the underlying nature of the data type (Hepworth, Schofield, Leontini and Germov, 2018). Compatibility of the data with the experimental design would also form a basis for discussion if at all means it does or does not contrast with the data at hand. Another implication would be the use the information gathered to control substance use in the society at large. The move is geared towards making universities as learning institutions offer guidance in matters drug and substance use and not as initially implicated by the research question as a place for impacting negatively on the lives of learners.

Limitations and Weaknesses The research proposal has its limitations or says weaknesses. The proposal would likely fail in the collection of first-hand data and as such end up presenting biased data for analysis (Walker, 2017). The collection stage of data may also fail to capture real information from the ground in the process of disseminating questionnaires as the respondents may opt to offer false information for fear of contradiction.
