After they are discharged, they have difficulties in the controlling their normal life and most of them in behaviors that may even increase the risk of their health. The phenomenon of homelessness of veterans in America started almost a century ago. They were among the people that lived in the street in the early 1930s. Hundreds of thousands were homeless at the time, and the numbers have not significantly declined, raising an alarm on the need for something urgent to be done to control the homelessness. It is estimated that in around 1987 more than 300000 veterans were homelessness. Upon being addicted to the use of drugs, it is also hard for a given veteran to be in a position to reason well that there is a need for them to look for a good shelter and have a good life.

The drugs take over their lives and cannot reason out well. The lack of proper reasoning out due to the use of drugs makes most of them become homeless and live a life full of stress. The use of the drug users' also had started in a while in the army. While in the army they were controlled and were kept busy with the work-related issues hence the use of drugs was done moderately. The best option for them is to be live away from their families and end up becoming homeless. Difficulty in adapting civilian life There are great differences between the way of life of the military officers and the civilians. While in the army most of the people are very powerful and enjoys very many privileges that cannot be accessed by a common civilian.

It is hard for most of the veterans to adapt to the civilian way of life after being discharged from the army. In most cases the veterans feel a huge difference living a normal life as civilians without the privileges and the powers. The mental disorder may rise as a result of the operation effects as the action of the military men involves fighting and killing of the enemies. The effects of the fights and the experience cause much mental distress to the affected and may even cause severe disorders that affect the normal functioning of the military men. While at work they are offered with the relevant guidance and counseling but upon discharging they are left on their own and cannot handle the situations.

They end up living with severe mental disorders that have detrimental effects in their lives. It is therefore hard for them to live with the civilians a normal life. Instead of facing reality and living with the people that would help them to overcome the issue the military veterans live in denial and run away from the people willing to assist them. Denial of what happened and moving on to start off a new and different life after being discharged makes them to desire to live an inhumane life as they consider themselves as failures. There are some that were not willing to be helped out of the situation they were facing. It is a problem that makes them feel alienated as by the people, yet it is a mindset that people no longer value them at all.

They, therefore, opt to live in the street where the people that they get across do not know them as they do not enjoy being near people that would tend to care of their lives and their past. The veterans also lack proper family and social support from the people that should be taking care of them as a special group. Most of them are also neglected by the family members and consider them to be outcasts and do not offer any financial support for them to start the new life as civilians. The lack of the support also tends to increase the post-traumatic disorders making their lives to be more miserable and makes them more desperate. There are more than one million veterans that are at risk of being homeless as a result of the poverty and lack of social support.

Most of them are currently living in small houses that are substandard and if a solution is not found the homelessness of the veterans will be an issue that will be there for a longer time. Every person in the society and the country should be made aware of the intensity of the problem as a way to sensitize on the needs of helping the veterans out to have homes. Every solution to the homelessness of the veterans will only be handled if the society and the relevant authorities can identify the intensity of the issue and deal with it accordingly. Development of the right kind of programs To end the issue of homelessness that has been widespread in the country, both the federal and the state governments have to come up with relevant programs that are meant to curb the issue of more veterans becoming more homeless and also reducing the number of the ones that are already homeless.

One of the major issues that are described above as a major cause of the homelessness is due to the abuse of drugs by the veterans after they are discharged from the army. Programs should be developed to have the addicted veterans get to a system where they can efficiently handle most of the activities normally as civilians. Provision of aids to help the families of the veterans sustain themselves economically is an important factor that can be used to curb the problem of homelessness among the veterans. There have been prominent actions by the state and the human rights-related organization to bring together the veterans and give them aids regarding finances to empower them economically and enable the smooth adapting to the civilian way of life.

The aids have also been used to establish businesses for them to not only continually rely on the support the governments offer to them. Construction of Veterans community homes To cater for the needs of the extreme cases, there is a need to built care houses for the veterans. Some of the veterans had a hard time to cope with the civilian environment, and the traumatic disorder affected them excessively. The charity activities also include the provision of the items and services to the needy veterans to enable them to live efficiently. Veterans Identity card Provision Most of the veterans still carry around their document that holds much sensitive information that makes it hard for them to be accepted in the jobs and the society in general.

The government should ensure that the veterans are issued with the identity cards that are not in any way related to their past activities. The documented that they are forced to carry put them at a risk of identity theft and makes it hard to live a normal life and run their economic activities efficiently. There should be a policy to protect the rights of the veterans to enable them to get civilian jobs without much struggle (Elboge et al. Most of them also remain homeless after being unable to meet several legal needs. The legal needs have caused the veterans to live in fear as they don't have the power to fight for their rights. It is therefore important for the veterans to be provided with the legal support to be in a position to deal with some of the legal issues.

The purpose of the legal services is to eliminate the barriers to housing and employment faced by the veterans. The attorney services to the veterans are also to protect the possible eviction from the premises they live in and also protecting their benefits from fraudsters. Finding a place for them to settle down is one of the main issues facing the veterans. It is hard for them to get a job without a home and also to get a chance to heal the physical wounds they got while at war. It is also hard for them to acquire basic amenities also such as education, employment, and health access while being homeless. It is the main reason that the community has been making strides to enhance the ability of the veterans to get houses as it is the basic issue towards the well living of the veterans.
