Also, leadership is inspirational. The main important aspect of leadership roles and responsibilities in any institute involves influencing the followers toward performing of the group activities. Every healthcare institution has its own vision, goals, objectives, mission and even ethical codes of conduct to safeguard and maintain. In order to achieve all these, different style of leadership ought to be employed. They include: transformational leadership and collaborative leadership. Collaborative style of leadership in healthcare organisation is of great importance because it promotes understanding of all stakeholders’ cultures and also it help in bringing together different people within the healthcare organisation who have different ideas, personalities and the like. This leadership style clearly states the organisation’s visions, goals, missions and even values that every personnel and follower within the healthcare organisation should follow in order to achieve the common goal and vision.
Also, group effort in doing work is highly encouraged because group effort is greater than individual effort. Importance of leadership in healthcare. In any healthcare organisation, good leadership is very paramount for its success. Leadership in the healthcare organisation is of very great importance because if motivate and inspire the followers to work harder toward the achievement of the healthcare vision and goals because they have their mind and eyes on the reward at the end of it. This is because a leader encourages his or her followers to perform their duties through acknowledgement and also praise. Followers as a result of this work with the picture in their mind that their leaders is monitoring and looking at them which might not be the case making them to perform well. It is the duty and responsibility of the leadership of the healthcare organisation to come up or formulate and implement the systems of motivation within the healthcare organisation that will be able to motivate the follower toward the attainment of the healthcare vision and goals.
It is also their mandate to reviews those motivating policies when necessary and everything is done toward the achieving of the healthcare goals and vision. This kind of diversity offered by the leadership should tringle down from the top leadership to the bottom thus making sure that through the leadership, the whole healthcare organisation has embraced diversity. Leadership directs and communicates new ideas and strategy. Leadership and management of the healthcare organisation comes up with new ideas and strategies concerning the progress and development of the healthcare. It therefore communicates those strategies and ideas to the followers and the subordinates for implementation. This communication can be done though organisational memos, staff meetings and also through emails to the respective department within the healthcare organisation. This up to date technology can be achieved through the leadership of the healthcare organising for the employees’ training sessions, attending workshops relating to the new technology, organizing for the seminars, bringing related experts to come and train their employees on new technology among other methods.
Also, it the duty and responsibility of the leadership of healthcare organisation to plan and execute as many learning opportunities as possible. Employee who is knowledgeable and has acquired the right and relevant knowledge and skills will be in a better position to deliver well and therefore, it is the responsibility of the management team to make sure that its work force is well acquainted with the right knowledge and skills for their good service delivery. These learning opportunities ensures that employee are better all round. Leadership provides collective identity and inspiration. Leadership understands the strengths and weakness of healthcare and its followers In every organisation, there are some strength and weakness of both the organisation and the work force. Leadership in healthcare understands the strengths and weaknesses within the healthcare.
With this kind of informed perspective, the leadership formulates policies that will help in unleashing healthcare and followers’ potential and abilities that will translate to improvement of performance of employees and making them to grow career wise. On the other hand, the leadership also comes up with good policies and mechanism to reduce the weaknesses within the healthcare and its stakeholders. Leadership makes formal rules governing the healthcare Organisation or institution have rules and regulation that governs the operations of the organisations. Being competent Competent followers make the work of the leaders very easy and effective because they possess the right knowledge and skills of the work they are performing. They enquire where necessary and above all they are up to the work that they are doing. Competent followers are also conversant with the organisation goals, vision and mission so they know what is expected of them by the leadership and they work toward attainment of the common vision of the organisation.
In addition, these competent followers can be self-sustaining and therefore taking the initiative for instance, they can act as the senior through suggestion of outstanding solutions to a given problem and also being proactive on the matters of healthcare organisation. Maintaining the core values Follower should be able to keep the core values that governs the work place. These employees make the work of the management very difficult because their followers are unsupportive to their policies and plans. Discretional or supportive followers make the work of the leadership team becomes simple and effective. This is because the policies and the plans that the leadership formulates are fully supported by the employee. Loyalty of followers Good followers can be defined to as one that are loyal to their organisational goals, vision, mission and its objective.
Disloyal followers are majorly the source of problem within the organisation and the main obstacle for achievement of the organisation goals. Followers are supposed to actively perform the tasks given by their leaders in order to achieve the common goal of purpose. Inspiring and motivating each other Followers perform their work together and therefore they need to inspire one other in the job place for example positively commenting their good job done by fellow employees. Also, employees should praise when other colleagues come up with new ideas for the development of the whole organisation. This is a role that leadership does to their followers and therefore when followers does these fellow team mates should praise him or her for the work well done. This makes the management and leadership very effective.
