Mental Health Stratification

The experiences of people with disability and the process of disablement are central to understanding the practices, consequences of incarceration and rationale. The paper bases its argument on the book Protest Psychosis and explains how stratification affected psychiatric profession in the United States. The article also elaborates more on prison incarceration and how the practice changed mental health care. The segregation of the Black Americans by the Whites led to several protests by civil right movements in an attempt to fight for equal rights.
