Additionally, while some employees were open to change, other individuals in the company remained deeply entrenched in the past, and did not see a need for change. To ensure that the software and hardware teams understood each other’s values, interests, and opinions, both teams should have employed a dialogic model of communication. Contrary to the strategic control approach, which only places emphasis on own interest, this particular model would have made it possible for both parties to focus on their different point of views, allowing them to develop a mutual understanding. In Elon’s memo, the new CEO created the impression that he did not care about the interests or values of the employees. Instead, he was only concerned about his own interests and his desired goals and outcomes for the company.
