Another form of classification of organization theory is in form of management schools which integrates classical management theory, Neo-classical theory, Modern management theory and other school of thought. From these kinds of classification of organization theory, it is possible to come up with the best way/ approach to comprehend the organization theory. This step can be carried out by comparing and contrasting between the two methods of classification of organization theory. This paper will talk about the classification of organization theories in theoretical perspective, classification of organization theories in form of management schools and the best approach to comprehend organization theory. Classification of Organization Theories in Theoretical Perspective Prehistory The past couple of years have seen an increase in the need for knowledge drawn from normative interest shown by executives and consultants (Hatch, 2018).

People who apply the modern perspective ask a number of questions to be able to make inferences (Hatch, 2018). It is important to note and appreciate the fact that modern organization theorists sacrifice a lot of their time and energy to develop, test, and apply mathematical methods for the confirmation of casual inferences. Some of the theories that apply in the modern perspective of organization theory include social-technical and contingency. The socio-technical theory looks at the social perception of people and the society at large. In this case, Tavistock researchers were able to find a means of accommodation for human input as well as technological means of production. This is unlike the modern perception of reality, which considers it to be independent of human experiences.

Another theory is culture theory which understands culture as a factor which is definitive of the characteristics of human beings. While it is assumed that culture might not be an adequate means of effective organization, it still maintains a strong sense of importance to the human race. Besides, storytelling, a strong aspect of culture is a fun and interesting way of imparting knowledge. It is important to have in mind that both of these theories apply quantitative methods for research. In as much as they are true, such view overlook some optimistic view of the human nature (Sridhar, 2009). Some of the key contributions of the classical management theories include the application of science in management, the growth of basic management functions, and in the articulation and use of certain theories of management Neo-Classical Theory Neo-classical theory came up as a response to schools of classical theories which placed too much emphasis on the mechanical and physiological management characters.

Neo-classical theory provides a more human-oriented approach and it puts emphasis on the drives, attitudes, needs and behavior of individuals. Neo-classical theory is further enhanced by the development of the ideas of industrial psychology (Sridhar, 2009). Under the Neo-classical theory emerged two relevant groups, human relations school and behavioral schools between the 1920s and 1930s. The traditional method does not differ much from the administrative management of classical theory. On the other hand, the decision-theory school places its focus on logic and the whole process of decision making (Sridhar, 2009). This theory holds that an organization becomes more efficient and effective when the decisions made are more rational. The mathematical theory has several similarities with the decision theory and is the same as the management science school (Sridhar, 2009).
