Qualitative research answers questions different from those perceived by nurses or clinical epidemiology, they thus analyze the health worker and patient’s beliefs, attitude, and preferred choices and an overall idea of translating evidence into practice. Discussion An ideal example of qualitative research on evidence-based practice is the treatment of asthma. Controversies arise on the relation of stated guidelines that practitioners need to apply and patients use of prescribed medication (Darlington, 2002). Most patients feel uneasy having to take drugs at work or in between their daily activities which in turn reduces how they get symptom relief. Such patients would thus prefer to avoid triggers to the problematic conditions rather than having to take daily prophylaxis. For a quantitative research to be considered effective, its results must be tested for validity and reliability before being fully acknowledged into practice.
