Lack of proper information channels between the health care providers and the public leads to standoffs in health care dispensation in that the public will not be aware of what is expected of them and as a result end up doing things that can jeopardise their health for example during outbreaks of epidemics, the simple act of informing the public of how to react to the situation can save millions of lives in the process. Literature review/background Information about the usage of social media by humanity is rife on books and other research documents. Researchers have conducted extensive studies to determine just how much social media is being used by this generation in ensuring things and activities run smoothly. a) The usage of social media around the globe Social media is, without a doubt, a prominent feature in the 21st century. This explains just how much social media can be of importance in the medical field in relaying information to the masses. b) The importance of social media in medicine Social media, as briefly explained in the previous paragraphs, has an immense amount of vitality in regards to improving the quality of health care around the globe. One of its fundamental uses is the connection that it gives the physician and the patients. Health practitioners, including physicians and nurses, can easily be in touch with their clients at the comfort of their homes by simply sharing information about their well-being and progress.

The physician can, in turn, inform the patient of what is expected of them to ease off the recovery process. The specific kind of research will entail surveying a sample of the members of the medical fraternity and probing them using a questionnaire as the tool that will investigate their use of social media while also getting more information about the usage. A sample size of about 50,000 medical practitioners around the world will be investigated primarily using the questionnaire. The survey will be coordinated by various medical authorities in different countries of the world. Once the survey is conducted at the country level, then the information will be compiled to generate one complete report about the entire discovery. The questionnaires basically try to extract information with regards to whether medical practitioners have social media accounts and whether they have been active in them for a given period of time.

c) Instrumentation The type of instruments used in this exercise to collect data includes questionnaires, interviews, and observation. • Questionnaires Questionnaires are important in this study because the survey entails probing specific and yet detailed information about the participants in the study. The usefulness is that they can be self-administered or used in an interview. The questionnaires will be administered by the researchers who will ensure that the participants answer the required information correctly. • Interviews Interviews is also another tool that will be used to extract vital information from the participants. This includes the questionnaires and the people who will conduct the research. Once again, the process should be coordinated from the level of individual countries with an overall body set to oversee the entire process.

Once the tools of data collection are ready, the sample to be used should be deduced. A map will best fit into the bill. The map should consist of different health setups in the country and should envisage the face of the country. They should not be forced but rather should be a voluntary process involving asking the participant whether he or she is ready to be part of the survey. Also, the participants need to be given assurance that once the survey is over, they will get a copy of the compiled report with all the details. This should assist in motivating them to give the best information during the research especially if there are no incentives such as cash bonuses for the participants.
