I. T. H for SBSPC). c) Pastoral Counseling: pastoral counseling is used rather than biblical counseling because the counseling involves some form of pastoral mode which a good example can be in a church setting. It is the combination of these three components stated above that result to strategy (Blackboard presentation slide one, July 2016). This can be achieved by paying close attention to Brody, showing empathy of feeling to Brody as he narrates his experience as well as encouraging him to shed tears if he feels like doing so since he is currently mourning the death of loved ones. The counselor can equally offer to help by sending a condolence greeting card as well as offering Brody the opportunity to contact him whenever Brody needs to talk to someone (Wright, 2014).

Guiding assumption: The counselor should assume that already God is lively in Brody (Kollar, 2011, P. Aligning Counselor’s DISC Relational Style to Match Care-Seeker’s Style  The study material, Crossroads: A story of forgiveness describes Brody as a high immature “I” personality type (Carbonell, 2008, p. This is because Brody is easily attracted to people and always seeks for attention and affection from those who care enough to offer him the necessary attention he deserves. This will go a long way to enhance solution to Brody’s predicament since Brody is willing to work with the counselor to enhance the required result. Possible Trials to be faced in Keenly Paying attention without Decree  By considering the fact that Brody is an immature “I” there may be a tendency for him to want to continue talking without affording the counselor a chance to make any contribution during the counseling session.

According to Blackboard presentation (July 2016) Solution based short term, pastoral counselors are meant to work with a time limit which is between 50 – 90 minutes per session, but as a high and immature “I” personality type Brody may not want to conform to the time limit. At this point, the counselor may want to introduce the talker/listener cards in order to curb excessive talking by Brody and allows the counselor the opportunity to make his own contribution (Petersen, 2015). Moreover, Petersen (2015) highlights on the importance of listening without talking in order for the counselor to stay focus, however, as a high “I” personality type Brody may want the counselor to reassure him that he agrees to his point of view which can be a distraction to the counselor.

T. H for SBSPC) include: Purpose: To advance Brody’s ideal story/solution. Goal: To enable Brody to develop the fruit of the Spirit according to Galatians 5: 22-23 (KJV). Chief Aim: To employ the “skillful use of questions” to determine what Brody wants and what will likely help Brody to alleviate his depression problem. Responsibility and Role The counselor asks Brody how he has been faring since the previous session in an effort to continue to build rapport and demonstrate fit. b. Definition: Grief is severe emotional suffering due to loss (Clinton and Hawkins, 2009, p. c. Key thought: Brody is possibly passing through depression stage of grief which is characterized by sadness and disconnection from people (p. d. I. T. H for SBSPC) is of the view that the “Miracle Question is a timely collaborative tool” in developing a life without the problem; when positively answered by the counselee is an indication that the counselee (Brody) is ready for phase three session.

PHASE THREE: Clarify and Execute the Action Plan In the phase two counseling session with Brody, the counselor together with the counselee was able to determine that the goal of phase two was to “enable Brody to develop the fruit of the Spirit according to Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)” (Obama's discussion board, forum 4, August 2016). Consequently, the counselor together with Brody will build upon the phase two session to advance further on phase three counseling session. Portrait: Brody is grieving the death of his loved ones through motor-vehicle accident. b. Definitions: grief is severe emotion as a result of loss (Clinton & Hawkins, 2009, p. c. Key thought: Brody is probably going through the acceptance stage of his grief (p. third tenet of pastoral counseling which says “if it is not working, do something different” should readily come into play.

According to Johnson & Johnson (2014) “deep depression” may be an indication that one is suffering from a major psychological disorder, in this case, there will need to connect Brody to the community (Blackboard presentation, slide one week four, August 2016). In an effort to connect Brody with his community Johnson &Johnson (2014) suggests that it is necessary for the counselor to look for a competent mental health professional whom he has personal knowledge of as well as, someone that can respect Brody’s faith/religious belief. PHASE FOUR: Connecting the Care-Seeker to the Community The unique features of phase four base on Rice (2016 F. A. The Small group will equally foster the development and maturity of the fruit of the Spirit in Brody according to Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV) since the goal which the counselor and Brody have collaboratively agreed upon is to help Brody develop the fruit of the Spirit.

Guiding Assumptions: Brody is always changing (Kollar, 2011, p. In order to successfully disengage Brody from the counseling scenario, and connect him with the community of small group, the counselor will want to assess the level of progress that he has been able to make with Brody during the counseling sessions. This can be done by asking Brody question like what change(s) have you noticed since the counseling relationship? (Kollar, 2011). Any little change by Brody should be highly encouraged by the counselor. This is because the teen's group is the one that has a common interest with Brody and they should be able to encourage one another as regards how they are able to make progress in their studies besides discussing the scripture.
