What is the role of reason in theology

Since theology is a science, it has various tactics to illustrate how science grows in the dissemination of the faith (Polanyi 250). Reason and faith works hand in hand in Christianity thus human reasoning cannot be separated from faith and it is through reason that Christians believe in a particular phenomenon. The reasoning thus helps Christians to form judgement on so many aspects. The adequate use of reason is very essential in theology thus having knowledge concerning God is the free human knowledge and helps human to be free from danger and deformation. Reason helps theology with the necessary critical sense and the arguments that are rigorous thus allowing believers in satisfying their religious needs and the questions concerning their intelligence. Thus a man should believe in the church, in Jesus Christ as the son of God whom God send on earth to save humanity and in God who created the universe not blindly but because they have a reason to do so, even if the faith they have originated from the divine grace.

Reason reveals to us that there is God. Through reason, Christian can look at what God has done and what has been written in the bible to conclude that indeed God exists formally. Reason helps Christian to understand that the world could not have been created if there was no God. And through that, they stick to believe that God exists. Thus objections will help in correcting some misunderstandings or insufficient of Christian doctrine if in cases they have some basis that they stand in. Theology tries to understand in deep the truth about faith and to discover to sense in each of the truth and find how the truth is connected. It tries to find the truth in the existence of human kind and interpret correctly how the earth came into existence.

It tries to analyze how God created the earth and everything that is in it. Reasoning helps Christians in demonstrating their faith. Men should be taught how to see the value of women without discrimination even in the workplace. Both the man and the woman should stand an equal chance of getting employed, and employment should be based on merit and not gender. Colour should also be looked into; people should not discriminate one another just because they have a different skin color since God created all humanity in his likeliness and in the eyes of God all people are equal and should be treated with respect. The value of Compassion should also be spread to all humanity. A human being should be taught on how to have the feeling for the suffering that other people are going through and be able to help them.
