It is part of the sociological theory that makes human consciousness of the fact that they are biological organisms that form part of the physical environment. The social development theory on explanations of the qualitative changes that take place in the framework and structure of the society are known to help the society in realizing its objectives and aims in a better way. From the arguments of the ecological economics, it is clear that if humans manage to feed on everything, then they will run out of them. The same theory argues that humanity has filled up the planet and therefore, makes up the society. This complexity of societies is a challenge in the modern world that had led to many societal factors collapse at any given time. The authors also show the growth and lack of morals in which the people in the Western Roman Empire had at any given time. For any society to grow, the different moral ethics in which it grows within the society makes complex features within it that cannot be contained. This theory is one that means a form of governance in which it encompasses all the others. This theory simply explains how ruling with others is a better idea in that collapsing of such an empire cannot happen at any given time. Catagenesis is a term used in describing the issue of evolution across the globe.

The involvement of all parties within a ruling empire and evolving through development is the one referred to as catagenesis. Resilience can be defined as the aspect of holding on something and push on through development at all times. These shifts in climate have caused drought, diseases, famine population collapse and other issues that severely affect the ecology of a place. This all end up in making political and economic collapse of the world and these Dark Ages have serious effects to the world. The relationship between humans and nature is one serious issue in which the author describes as the ones that have contributions towards historical crises. It is during these Dark Ages in which the nature is relieved of the unending exploitation from the humans in this world.

Chew is categorical in that the humans in this world have a hand in making sure that the ecology is derailed at all angles. Deforestation and the overuse of all resources across the globe is the start of the Dark Ages across the globe. For the world to analyze this issue of Dark Age, the ecology should be the first part to look at since when the ecology is degraded it results to harsh results. Dark Ages are some of the periods in which the humans cannot make to repeat within a short period. This leads to fall of empires, famine, drought and other various aspects in which every person cannot like to enjoin such a period. Therefore, there have been three Dark Ages from the history of this world and has led to serious results.
