That perception may not be ill-intended given that Hong Kong's economy in the last few years has continued growing owing to intense activities in the tourism sector. Tourism is a generalized term. In this perspective, as a Media Director of Integrated Marketing Communication Agency, the principal purpose for writing this report is to discuss projects constituting tourism. The discussion will be in detail since my client, Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) already is conversant with tourism activities within the city. According to the Board, from 2010 to 2018, the city witnessed a steady increase of visitation from the local tourists, tourists from mainland China compared to international tourists. It refers to the process where the board requires to create an identity, and this involves targeting wealthy travelers from Europe and mainland China.

This may be an extremely task to accomplish because of the possibility of creating a wrong perception to an audience who may feel left out since tourism entails inclusivity. 1 Reasons for Targeting Wealthy Travelers According to a survey conducted by “China Luxury Advisors and FBIC Global Retail & Technology between a period of May 21st, 2015 and May 21st, 2016, low and middle-class tourists from the mainland registered a lower statistics when it comes to spending more during their visit to Hong Kong (Brobeck, 2017). The survey further discovered that their number of visits primarily depended on their monthly income. This was a worrying trend since it is typical for a person struggling to make end meets to fail in spending more on luxury brands.

This type of marketing strategy aims at improving the supply chain. From the survey, an affluent Chinese could spend up to six times during an overseas trip more of what he could have spent while in China. This is a worrying trend, and this leads to the question; who should I target? After analyzing the graph, I discovered that there is a need to promote domestic tourism as well as foreign tourism. Here, the focus should be on quality and quantity. By selecting tour group tourists, I found that they are more likely to stay in Hong Kong. Hong Kong Tourism Board can prevent this through educating tour guides about the importance of observing interpersonal communication skills (Lin, 2017). When tour guides demonstrate etiquette while interacting with wealthy tourists, they will become convinced.

The warm hospitality on that front can persuade them to stay in Hong Kong for more days (Lin, 2017). With China boasting of the largest economy worldwide, in 2018, China Luxury Advisory reported that citizens around 30-49 years boasted of a favorable monthly income. This means that they can become a target for the tourism board (Li, 2016). Among Asian nations, Honk Kong was ranked first. Museums located in Hong Kong should not be restricted to HK’s historical culture. When tourists from Turkey happen to visit HK’s museums today, they become more interested in knowing what HK knows about them. The curiosity, in turn, will attract their interest, and through an exciting learning experience they will receive here, there is a high possibility of them extending their visitation (Li, 2016).

Also, HKTB should advocate for the establishment of more bookshop. The bookshops should be filled up with novels highlighting HK’s culture. From that period to today, China has embraced bilateral trade. This has created more avenues for exportation of various products. In the last few years, China has been a major global exporter of cement. Iron, petroleum, and coal. According to the 2018 Survey conducted by the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics, industrial enterprises formed a collaboration with the government, and that was linked to Soviet-style. Also, the government improved the transport sector by establishing a bridge that connected Hong Kong with cities like Zhuhai and Macao. The statistics from the table was reached at after an extensive research done by the Outbond Travel Destinations. Conclusion HKTB has rolled out plans that guarantee the future of China’s economy as far as an improvisation of the tourism sector is concerned. Some of the initiatives include ‘Pal’ which makes both local and foreign tourists enjoy their experience during their stay here in Hong Kong. As much as China has continued growing economically, NBS has discovered that the economy has been subjected to a slow pace of late.

This is a significant way for them earning an income. Also, budget allocation portrays government’s assistance to the tourism sector- the current allocation of 12 million Hong Kong Dollars. Recommendations I am suggesting the urge for the marketing strategies to be in tandem with the modern technological innovation (Kozak, 2016). Hong Kong Tourism Board already have a website. This is a good strategy in creating awareness not only to potential tourists from mainland China but also Europe in what to expect by visiting Hong Kong. Hong Kong did a noble thing by forming its football league- Hong Kong Football league. For that case, in partnership with sports franchise owners like Zhou Jinhui of Beijing Sinobo Guoan FC, HK can expand on other sports like basketball and hockey.

When sporting franchise owners are encouraged to invest in stadiums and complexes, there will be an establishment of hotels, restaurants, gymnastics, and bars.
